This could go in Health & Med., but since it includes getting it on i put it behind the green door. Friday nite when my conscious had the night off, i made a big mistake. I had unpretected sex, and i'm pretty sure if the guy didn't pull out in time. I went to pee right afterward and tried to clean it out
, but i'm pretty sure that isn't a good contraceptive. I had heard of the emergency "plan b" or morning after pill, but i thought they were still illegal in south carolina or if you could get them you had to get a perscription. I was staying at a friends house this weekend and i never got a chance to look it up on the net or ask anyone b/c i didn't want anyone to know . I was also waiting till i got back on campus at my college to go the doctor here(and i didn't have that much money with me). Well turns out i could get it over the counter, and i bought some this morning (monday) and took it at about 11 oclock. the package and info that came with it said to take the pill within 72 hours after having sex. i'm not really sure on the time that i had sex but i'm thinking i might of been a few hours late on taking the pill. I'm scared i might have been too late. if anybody has had experience with this pill or know something that could help me out i would appreciate it if you would let me know.(how do you know if it's worked is something that i'm wondering?) PS: I want to take a pregnancy test to make sure i'm not knocked up, How long does it take for you to show up pregnant on a test?

You should probably find a Planned Parenthood or something similar to help you out with this.

Ya, unless you got the morning after pill today, it would do you no good. Its only good up until 72 hours, then, its just no good
![]() Its hard to use your cycle as an indicator, because if you're like 90% of the woman out there, the damned thing isn't very regular half the time lol Especially if you're younger, because our bodies tend to just be getting themselves into a pattern. It'd like to tell you more about what you could do thats like plan B, but short of an abortion if you are pregnant, I can't really think of much else. I know its been suggested to buy 2 pregnany test immediatly, but it can take up to two weeks for the zygote (fertalized egg) to travel from the tubes to the uterus. So it may take a while for the HGC (i think thats it, but by all means, correct me if i'm wrong) hormone to be released. Its the main hormone that it released by the body first, and is the one that most pregnancy tests (the "early detection" ones) use as an indicator. I would suggest waiting about a week, and then testing. Then waiting another week and testing again. In the meantime, I suggust you take a trip down to the grocery store and buy yourself a multivitamin. Make sure whatever one you pick up contains a good amount of folic acid. If you are pregnant, most of the important devolpment occurs in the first trimester, therefore if its possible that you could be pregnant, its best to provide your possible child with the best start. I would recommend that you stop drinking alcohol until you're sure what your results are. The same goes for alot of over the counter medicines like tylenol, advil, antihistamines, cough syrups that have a potential to interrupt development. Smoking should be cut back aswell, because tobacco has been known to decrease birth weights, causing all sorts of not nice little things for the baby. If you do happen to be pregnant, there are probably many planned pregnancy centers in your area that could help you make a decision about what to do about your pregnancy. Well... good luck I hope that helps a little... |

But at the moment - aside from RU486 (Plan B), there is nothing a professional can do for her. (Unless she sees a naturopath or midwife.) An OB or pregnancy counselor at Planned Parenthood would have to 'wait and see' and then proceed with either a chemical abortion (after shes past a certain time) or a surgical abortion. There ARE things she can do to help her body keep from implanting the egg - safe things that decrease the level of progesterone in her body (what the body needs to implant the egg.) IF (tiny chance) she is dealing with a fertilized egg, the sooner she does something, the better. (If that is absolutely what her decision is.) |

I PMed the OP to ensure support and privacy. This isn't a debate, or an education on female reproduction, I sent her a few resources I had, and she can take them or leave them. I am MORE than willing to provide said resources and others to anyone who wants them. If you'd like to start another thread either asking questions, debating me, or being critical of my knowledge - I'm up for that. I just didn't want to derail the thread. Also, Kami - if you're sooo interested in this, I'd be happy to PM you such as well, OR give you resources to get in touch with professionals I know who can offer you more information. ![]() |
