This is real life though and real life calls for real emotion. Tell her she's beautiful. Tell her you only want to make her smile. Tell her you're all hers.

It's high time that the strong and silent man archetype is viewed as a prison for men as well as their family's. Open up, talk about how you feel, have some emotion. It's hard to know what to do sometimes, since we generally take our modeling from our parents and tv, who give us this image.

So hats off Merc for not being afraid to be yourself.

I disagree with that. I have been reading more tradtional dating advice and I am a firm believer in chivalry. Not only do I believe it but in my own experience it has worked out quite well. This perspective holds that treating a women thoughtfully is a much more sincere path to her affection. For example: buying her a drink, greeting her warmly, telling her the truth and complimenting her.

Any non-idealist will say that the answer is a mixture of both methodologys and that you have to be both independant and confident as well as respectful and polite. To those people I say no shit. We're talking about which is more important.

Being nice or playing games?

warning to all youse guys trying to be too nice:
for a long time it was thought that ducks were monogamous, but recently after installing cameras over a few ponds it was discovered that female ducks tended to choose a 'nice' stable male duck to settle down with, then she'd go find a 'sexy playboy' duck to actually get down with, and trick the nice guy duck into raising the sexy playboy ducks kids....

yeah, but on the subject of birds' sex appeal you can actaully make male barn swallows more appealling to females by coloring their chests a darker shade of orange...

If one is not of decent character...they will find themselves mistreating several other people, including themselves. The act of specifically antagonizing women can usually be connected to a history of doing MANY others wrong, regardless of gender.

It is rare (if not impossible) that you will find someone is gentle toward fellow humankind at large if they are entirely bitter and cruel toward women, even if they are the particular target of spite.
