Norml

I know who they are and what they stand for, but my question is about their efficiency and impact on society. If there are any other marijuana interest groups that have done more for society, can I hear about them too?

I'm mainly interested on how they fight for less violent persecution of non-violent drug offenders.

Thanks.

I'm just trying to find out about an organization that accomplished something or has benefited society, I respect their battles, but i'm trying to find an organization that did good for the people.

SAFER is the group that is almost solely responsible for the decrim initiatives in Denver. Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation.

No doubt there are, and have been, other legalization groups who accomplished more than NORML; however, NORML's input is probably working with the others' actions. All the legalization groups are working together in different parts of the country, some just work harder than others.

I'm not readily informed on the work and success NORML has accomplished.

typos

As the former chairman of the Dutch Legalize organization I fail to see what NORML really has done for the American Cannabis culture, apart from taking their money to advertise themselves.

Here in the Nederlands we KNOW what works to get Cannabis decriminalized and legal to use, for ANY personal reason and I can tell you one thing, NORML is not doing what works, they are just keeping the status quo and collecting your money.
If you really want to re-legalize Cannabis in the USA do not support NORML, support any other organization but them.

Don't forget that...

NORML resisted Jack Herer's Hemp message, in the beginning.

NORML resisted Medical Cannabis, in the beginning.

NORML is, currently, resisting Religious Use.

Down here, we jokingly call NORML the National Organization for Rich Marijuana Lawyers. NORML has conflicting interests all the way.

Don't take my word for it, just do some research into their activities and how they really effect public and political opinion. Also, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they don't do anything, I'm just observing the simple fact that they avoid to do what really works with the money they receive, and that they do not really work for legalization, they work to maintain the status quo for as long as they can profit from it.

If NORML really was the reform organization they pretend to be (and I use the word pretend on purpose), with the numbers of Cannabis users in the USA and the resources they have, Cannabis would be legal in the USA since decades.

And on a side note, not one person in the Dutch legalize organization has ever been paid. We work with volunteers, even the staff.

Check this tread out, you'll see two emails, one from MMP and one from NORML and compare their actions, all that NORML is doing is to inform people of news articles on Cannabis issues while MMP actually is doing things to make a change. E-mail from MMP
