the war on drugs

the war on drugs. when you really think about it, its not a war on drugs. its a war on drug users. a war against the habits of a country's own citizens. when i was in 8th grade i can recall all of the garbage thrown at me. that drug users are weak people and that drugs are the cause of all crime. but the prohibition is the cause of all the crime, the reason of a booming black market. there has never been a drug free society, ever. and for some reason they always come up "what about the children?" they try to tug at your heart strings and make you feel bad as if all these drugs are addicting and ruining children. with this current war on drugs those children wouldn't get help, they would get a prison sentence. no matter how stiff the penlties ppl will always use drugs and are willing gambling that they don't get caught. and when they do the prison sentences are harsh. all of this over these chemical compounds. when they say what about the children i say what about the adults? what about the unmarried care free 20 year old like myself? I have a 3.8 gpa and a job. why can't i just enjoy a little plant matter in the privacy of my own home? why is it if someone has a cannabis plant growing in their yard they are charged with "drug manufacturing" as if its being made in a lab. it is facilitating the life cycle of this plant, a plant, with dna and cells. its a living thing. how is that manufacturing. then when i hear some tool quote me a statstic like "60 percent of drug addicts are dependent on marijuana" i just want to punch them in the fucking mouth. ppl with no clue and dont ask who came up with this stat or how was it figured out. it makes me so angry that they imprison people to protect them from themselvs. like it makes their life so much better now that they are sober and in prison. then they can get out and have a nonviolent record that puts lower in society then when they were using the substance.

they need to legalize pot and double the sentances on other drugs. Just put an end to the black market.
