Post It was late 1991

I was reading the Rocky Mountain News in Denver. It was in the letters to the editor section. I came across a letter from Tom Barrus who talked about how the lack of consistency in the laws would be the demise of the U.S.S.A. He talked about the most dangerous drugs that are available over the counter while safer drugs are under prohibitionist laws. His letter made a lot of sense to me and I contacted him personally. This led to my becoming a petitioner with the Colorado Hemp Initiative Project in 1992. I didn't know at the time what a rude awakening I was in for.

People called me every name in the book. People would run away when I asked them to sign the petition. One man could not sign the petition because "He had children." Church groups could not support plants that come from the Lord. I was threatened by gang members and law enforcement. We didn't collect enough signatures to make the ballot. Nowhere near actually.

I still continue to educate and be active in the movement. To all those people who called me names and ran away, I hope you enjoy your high gas prices. I hope you have been laid off of your job because you continue to bad mouth and be afraid of a plant which could be used to replace and compete with fossil fuels. We could be manufacturing so many things in this country cleaner and safer than we are now. Maybe when you are standing in the soup line, you will wake up.

They still continue today to call me names and tell me why the relegalization of hemp is not a vital issue. They continue to throw people in jail and seize their property. Gee, I wonder why we have no economy.

They vote for and support a president who has sold his own country out to foreign interests to feather his own nest. They call Michael Moore all sorts of names also. They murder people like Ken Gorman. They believe lies from the government much quicker than the truth.

Even some posters on here are the same way. They do not understand that the laws created in 1937 are causing the detrimental effect we are living in now. Like Ken Gorman, I will fight until I die.

I was watching a comedian the other night on HBO or something, and he said "pot should be legal" not just that but that pot being legal is one of those "No, duh" facts of life, as if it's illegal status were complete absurdity. He wasn't of an activist mentality, or saying it for cheers. In fact, he said it was as obvious as him needing a bigger penis, if I remember correctly. Still, the audience cheered.

I think as the populace ages, and people who grew up after the 60's become an increasing influence among law makers, you will see this absurdity of "wars" on victimless crimes finally go away. At least, that's my hope.

Props to you, patriot.
