I have calle NORML many times with good ideas on how to fight the prohibition all to no avail. I won't give them money. Like most "non-profit" organizations, they stand there with their hand out while doing little of what they represent.

Ken Gorman did more for the repeal of prohibition and never asked for a dime. He never asked for any contributions of any kind for any of the rallies at the Capitol building in Denver. He had bands there and even had "Staff" shirts made up for people. I still have mine.

My last idea was for NORML to make stickers we could put on gas pumps. No action was ever taken even though the person on the phone thought it was a good idea. NORML has been around since the 1970's.

I would send $4.20 to Jack Herer. The book he wrote is why most of us are on this site.

Ed Rosenthal actually is more an inspiring force ,at least for me.

Ask Ed: Books on Marijuana by Ed Rosenthal

It was his "Grow Book" that I distributed thousands of copies of ,that got many many growers started on their first grow.

I agree that norml never amounted to what they could/should have.

I believe that NORML's role is misunderstood. It is not the ACLU of pot. It is not the place to call when you get busted, or a place to send your ideas on legalization to. It’s a small poorly funded organization, with almost no corporate sponsorship; whose role is narrow and focused.

I see it's actual mission as primarily limited to education. It is a coherent voice of reason counterbalancing the hyped-up government propaganda machine. NORML has been around for almost 40 years, and so has some name recognition. Like the NRA, its other potential role is influencing federal legislation, which it has not had the opportunity to do in decades - until now.

The National Organization for the Referral of Marijuana Lawyers.

Just kidding.

I don't really have anything against NORML. I just feel my money and time could be spent better elsewhere.
