Weed is pretty much legal here. Why the fuck would we do that. I would recommend moving to California but we don't accept stupid people.

So, what you can be born there stupid? I guess the fight to legalize it wouldn't much apply to you then now would it.

Fighting to legalize weed by just smoking blunts and walking up to the capital office is stupid. Writing to congress men would be more effective.
Don't think up some dumbass idea and expect everyone to jump on the band wagon.

Real progress must take place in the legislatures and courthouses of America (or in reduced police enforcement, but police generally enforce the laws that are on the books). Smoke-ins often don't amount to much more than blowing smoke in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, how many people have written thier reps and still no change? And for how long has this ben going on? Ok then. It's quite obvious the government does not work for the people. Seems the people work for the government.I dont know what country you were born in or what schools taught you but they work for. Me trying to get something started is not a dumb idea. As long as the people are ignored by the ones they elected then other routes must be taken. You sound like one of those people that has had everything given to them. I'm a vet and weed helps me out. I believe I have earned the right to medicate myself without worry of ruining the rest of my life. I would rather get arrested protesting and marching then arrested with a few grams on me that I would be penalized for tens times over. You may not agree with how I see things but then again what do you know. You sir Have no balls. Next time be a little more polite and steer me in the right direction if you think I am going in the wrong. I haven't had much time in the civilian world seeing I joined the army at 17. now that I'm out I am a little behind on how things have been ruinning and what not. So instead of insulting those who have the balls to do the dirty work maybe try and enlighten me on how things could be done. And dont give me some write your congressman shit. We all know they dont do shit for us. You would think that I fought for them then they would fight for me but it is not the case. All poloticians have a personal agenda and show no signs of selfless service. Total oposite of how I was brought up and total oposite of how I'm going to be. When our government is not so corrupt and works for the people as it should then I will try your route.

Hey man, chill out a bit.
Dont take it too personal, they're only words on a screen mate.
Just trying to be constructive.

I cant understand why so many of you think this a bad idea.
Most ppl would appreciate that the main objective of rallies is to increase exposure to injustices etc. Numbers = Media coverage.
So tell me: Is a letter to congress better than 10 seconds on CNN?
It's also really healing to be amongst others who share a dream, as Ken did.
Police dont go busting the shit out of peaceful demonstrations. I wouldn't propose organising one through Tiananmen Square however.
Major rallies are ALWAYS accompanied by submissions to government.
People dont just march for the fun of it.

It would be more effective than lighting up and marching. At least won't be arrested. I don't believe it make a difference just saying its better.

First you march, then you lite up. And if by some freak chance you got 500,000 to do it (like woodstock), it would be infinitely more effective than wasting your time writing congress.

Finally the support arrives. I'm not good with using words.Always just been good at soldiering. But I know what I feel about this and I know how our government is. I also know that just writing my congressman wont accomplish anything. Marching on the other hand with the possibility of getting arrested for smoking a joint or what not is deffinately worth every second. I again stood up and fought for what I believe in. I only wish more of us felt the same way. Cerebro Somehow knows exactly how I am thinking. Why put all your cards on the hope of one man changing something when we could have our cards on thousands taking the lead in this struggle getting that tv coverage out to millions more which would only strengthen our cause and numbers. Sure as hell beats sitting back relying on the government to make the right decisions for us. We make the decisions they make them official. thats how the system is supposed to work. we need more active and frequent events with bolder statements. Seems like it's all that is left.

the governement can throw away letters w/out the general public being aware that it was ever written. you cant ignore a rally...

And I think if you try to get your point across it would be more effective if everyone chilled out, and didn't insult so much. Just because someone says something you dont like doesnt mean they are stupid. They are just trying to make a point. Instead of bitching and name calling try saying (in a nice and constructive way) why it would or wouldnt work.

I bet the mexicans were all from the same family. Eh, maybe that's a little too racist :P

But anyway, I think there should be one huge American rally, where everybody from America that tokes goes and rallies. But there are plently of festivals and gatherings and whatnot that deal with the legalization (or decriminalization) of pot. Just look around.

Well, May 3rd was a world wide day to speak our mind about marijuana legalization , get some people to sign petitions, whatever we could do. In Maine we had a small turn out in Portland.
Hard to say what impact it had but we did it any way. I put up a photo album of the event if anyone is interested. >> PISSED OFF POTHEAD HOME/05-03-08/Mayday Jayday 05-03-08

It's true, we don't. I was born with cubes, actually, and they are constantly poking each other.

Seriously, though, every time I think of it, I am still stunned that marijuana is illegal (and vilified). I just can't get over the gross ignorance of that fact. It's like making grape Kool-Aid illegal, but giving millions in subsides so they can keep on making Orange Kool-Aid.
