U.K Reclassification.

BBC NEWS | Politics | Cannabis laws to be strengthened

Looks as though they realy are gonna go through with this...

Props to Gordon Brown and Jacqui Smith for keeping in touch with reality...

For dedicating more effort and taxpayers money in prohibiting a relatively harmless natural substance than seemingly goes into serious drug issues such a as Heroin/Cocaine addiction... sharp rises in the level of young kids using Cocaine as a social drug, etc etc.

Also props for not realising that reclassifying Cannabis to Class B will not make one iota of difference for its intended purposes, it will still be freely available, it will still be in great demand. Reclassification will have little bearing on those who use it, and those who produce it commercially to meet that ever present demand will continue to profit from it... probably alongside other substances of the Class A variety.

Kids are not going to shy away from using it as classification of a drug generally doesn't enter the mind of a teenager who has recently discovered weed, that with the noticable lack of realistic education on the matter means this nonense is just that... complete gibberish.

The only people who will possible be affected by it is the average Joe who grows his own stash, for his own personal usage, but feels its not a risk worth taking now that sentences for cultivation will be much more likely to be stiff. Especially in the first few months when the government are likely to wish to send out a message and make a few examples of people, they can realistically be sent away for 5 years.

As I'm sure we all know, prohibition comes at the cost of losing control of the said substance, as I have read elswhere... a laughable state of affairs for a so called "contolled" substance!

Prohibition = black market = profit for organised crime and criminalisation of a largely peaceful and productive demographic within society.

Congratulations for completely missing the point... Mr Brown and Ms Smith. And for not heeding the advice of the appointed panel of experts, a large proportion of your own party and a large proportion of the law enforcement community... not to mention the public!
