Post Cannabutter/Weed Brownies Simplified?

I'm interested in making brownies mainly because of a post "01" made in the "Amount of Bud" report thread. Let me basically put the steps to making this stuff as I know them, correct me if I am wrong with anything please:

1) A quarter of really good bud, chopped up very fine by coffee grinder.

2) 1L of water to boil(low boil), stick of butter ready to be mixed. (This ratio of 1L water:1 stick butter:7 g's of bud from 01, is this a suitable ratio?)

3) When water begins to boil, toss in the stick of butter and quarter of chopped up bud into the pot; boil for 30 minutes. (Again, 30 mins per quarter/stick of butter/1L of water from 01, anyone verify this?)

4) After 30 minutes is up, take the broth and strain it through a cheesecloth or something like that (coffee filter?). Place liquid in the fridge for 6-8 hours or until its has solidified as butter would.

5) Follow standard brownie recipe using cannabutter instead of regular butter.

Now, this is how I have it so far and I plead for anyone to correct me if I'm wrong or help me with any of the specific know-how.

Sounds good to me chief. I think you got the hang of it.

Boiling the butter with water is the safest way to cook the cannabis, your chances of burning it is nill. Instead of timing it though, I would go by when you feel the bud it fully cooked. It should be dark green turning brownish and the room should smell like spoiled vegatables.

I would go ahead and buy some cheesecloth though, the coffee filter will take all day and just make a mess. Pour the mixture after its cooled a bit so you dont burn yourself. Make sure to fold the cheesecloth 4-5 times to stop the tiny bits of cannabis from flowing through.

Remember, dose carefully!

so are you suppose to use all that stick of butter in the brownies, or jsut what hte brownies call for

beacuse if its just waht the brownies call for, that cant be that strong of brownies?

No, that recipe I posted is for making cannabutter.

You just substitute the cannabutter for normal butter in a regular brownie recipe to get weed brownies.

The butter can be used for anything. Hell, you can spread it on your morning toast and get ripped!

ive only made cannabutter with leaf, so i dont know how much thisll help you out -- i usually just get a handful of leaf and stick a stick of butter on top of that in a measuring cup and then microwave it for 3 or 4 30-second intervals, and make sure you stir it a little. microwave is probably the easiest way to do it, doing it on the stove is alot more messy, ime at least. when the butter has a green tint youre doing fine. then i pour the butter in a glass and strain the leaf against the inside of the measuring cup to get as much butter as i can. the butter should be greenish and should smell like whatever youre cooking it with, hope that helped, feel free to ask any qs -- i just let the butter solidify and eat it with bread or whatever, making brownies seems like alot of unnecessary work

Sounds too complicated to me... when I made brownies I used the ratio of an eighth of dank for every one stick of butter(the more the better though, hehe) all we did was grind up our eighth really well and then we put some butter in a pan and melted it and started to simmer it, once the butter melted we added the eighth in and just let it simmer on a low setting for 20-30 mins, you'll know when it's done when the butter turns brownish green and all the weed has become brown and lifeless. then strain it through a strainer if you don't want to be eating gross useless weed and then make your brownies like normal. So all you really need to do is simmer the weed/butter mixture for a while then dump it in your brownie mix, mix it up and cook it. It was the best high i've ever experianced.

I'm not sure, does it matter?

And wanderlust, yeah this way is a bit more complicated. However, there is less chance of fucking up and burning the weed. More 'fool proof' I guess you could say.

Is it necessary to cool down the thc butter and let it solidify, or can you just make brownies or something right away after you have cooked it for 20-30 mins?

When I make brownies, I just use the brownie mixes. They call for oil in the ingredients you add (usually like water, egg, and veg oil) so I simmer the pot in the oil. Just simmer it until the bud is mostly brown and the oil has a green color. Then you just strain the oil through some cheesecloth, and add the oil to the brownies like usual. The brownies will not taste, look, or smell any different than they would any other time. They will, however, get you really fucked up!

If you are going to use the butter to make brownies or some other baked goods, you need to let it solidity because when you are mixing all the shit together, liquid butter doesn't really work the same as solid butter and the brownies just won't come out right.

I don't think liquid butter would make any difference. Especially if the recipe on an instant brownie box calls for oil.

I have a quick question about microwaves: do they work? Can you really just throw a gram in a measuring cup with a quarter stick of butter, give it 30-second zaps till the butter turns green, then cook it up into a nice cookie (my usually preference)? I've just never used the microwave before and I'd beat myself if I wasted a gram. (that's sad)

I'm pretty sure the microwave method won't work. Not sure on the logistics of this, I guess the "microwaves" can just burn the shit out of your bud and vaporize it without it even being absorbed by whatever fatty ingredient you've got in there with it.

I wouldn't microwave the stuff either--it's hard enough to avoid waste using the stovetop, butter, water, strainer method. Microwave guy could be cutting his potency in half or more and might not even know it.

Ok, quick question...

For a standard brownie pan, serving 4 people, how much bud would I need to add to the oil to get me and my friends pleasantly ripped? I bought a 40 sack from my asshole brother, and he shorted me. Doesn't look like I even have a quarter here, and I'd like to have some left over to smoke. Given, it's better quality weed than I'm used to... no seeds, smells like hay, neon orange hairs... so, maybe it's an alright price, but I was just expecting there to be... moar.

Is a batch of brownies feasible at this point, or should I just say fuck it and smoke it all?

enough weed?

I would go by your friends. They are going to wait an hour to get high. Are they used to that or will they start to tell themseles it was lame before it had a chance to get them?

One source said a gram and a half per person is a good stoning. Other accounts say eating is less effective than smoking. I'm so (re) new to this that I'm not sure which is right.

Wish I could be more help--the orange hairs sound promising. A small amount of additional alcohol would probably cinch it.
