I'd say you can certainly try just conditioning your hair to mask it but I'd also suggest you get your resume together as you are most certainly going to fail. Don't take my word for it...others are saying the same thing. Not trying to upset you but this thread was started a year ago when testers just started to wash the samples. Now they all do (from the research I have done prior to my own test). Masking shampoos and conditioners don't remove the chemical markers...they just try to seal the hair to prevent the test solutions from making their way inside the hair. It all comes down to how bad you want the job/need to pass the test. In my case it was a MUST that I get this job so I wasn't willing to risk my chance at just a simple covering shampoo. I took the time and IMHO did it right by using IDA's method....and I passed my test. My ex-roommate, however, just informed me on Saturday that he failed his hair test to get into the same company I work for. He smokes less than me but he tried Zydot (or whatever it is called) and they clocked his PPM way above the cut-off limit. Simply comes down to the fact, if you want to be lazy and try just covering you can do it but don't expect to pass. Link above has many sob stories of people trying to do the exact thing you are thinking of. Many people in this thread and that link, including myself, have done the IDA or Mac method and passed our tests. Some don't some do, but nearly everyone that tries to cover their hair today will fail. IMHO it's not worth slacking. |

I personally used Head and Shoulders w/Aloe when doing the IDA treatments but when using straight shampoo to get the chemicals out, I used Suave with Aloe. I think Ida or someone mentioned in this long thread that as long as it is extract from the Aloe plant you are good to go.

For some reason in my area I cannot findANY shampoo with aloe with the exception of Suave. I didn't want to get one of the more expensive "boutique" shampoos w/ aloe, I would imagine that content is very different. Well, I have the test tomorrow afternoon, so I will let you guys know what happens! And the results later next week probably. Thanks, if anyone has any extra pointers they would be appreciated!!!!

2-5 dAYS
I WISH it would not take longer than 2- 5 days. But the sample first has to go on it's long journey from Central Florida to Las Vegas and it is a holiday weekend. I will certainly be chiming in with the results ASAP!

yeah...they do. I was paranoid about it but it turned out ok.
At least we can look on the bright side: The testing companies aren't obligated to call the cops and the cops can't arrest you over a job-required (or job application) test ![]() |

I don't think so
I found this "method" as I have been desparately trying to find something to help me pass this hair test. I will absolutely not try this method. When I looked up what will happen to my hair if I add these chemicals, I found this:
CLOROX® is a Chlorine Bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite) its chemical composition is very different than Hydrogen Peroxide that is used for bleaching hair. Chlorine Bleach attacks ANY kind of organic matter and destroys it. This is how it's bleaching action works. If you put it on your hair it will destroy the hair's protein structure as well as the pigment, causing it to disintegrate (Melt). Hydrogen Peroxide will also do this just not as quickly or as aggressively. It will decolorize pigment without destroying the protein structure of hair if it is at the correct concentration AND Mixed with other chemicals to control its action. That's why using pure hydrogen peroxide for bleaching is not a good idea. P.S. Using ANYTHING on your skin or scalp that was not made for that use is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. You could end up with serious scalp damage / burns that could result in PERMANENT Hair Loss in those areas. As well as the risk of getting it in your eyes and causing BLINDNESS. |

yadda yadda yadda.
whatever you want to do. Worked for me and lots of others. I'd use this method again if I needed to. Drive-by posters don't scare me that much. |

![]() But that would suck if the government used job drug testing (hiring or random screens) as a basis for arresting people. |

Okay Okay
I was being a paranoid ass-hole. I have my test today. I used the Idavisa method with the bleach/peroxide/shampoo. It didn't do a thing to my hair. I have really long dark curly hair. I hope this works!! This is the second time I have to do this test because the first time they said they didn't have enough hair to do the marijauana test. Wish me luck guys. I'll let you know what happens. I will find out in 3 business days.

Hey guys/gals:
Just wanted to interject with some thoughts on the postings. I have failed my test using the IDA method, didn't deviate from the instructions, and doubled up on the treatment the night before, day of, don't have long hair etc etc. This was a good job with great pay that i desperately needed right now. Really sucks, but I know I tried everything I could. The truth is that some people pass and some people don't, for a variety of reasons. I read about several other methods, Mac etc., but none seemed to have the success ratings that Ida did. Good luck to anybody that takes these things, you have a shot at passing, but I believe your body chemistry has a heck of a lot to do with whether you pass or fail, the methods can act as a catalyst to get you to that pass point, if you have the right genetic makeup. And a word of advice, don't waste any money on those stupid shampoos--i bought 2 (won't even name the names) one was expensive one was not and obviously neither worked. If you are going to pass, you will have a 50/50 shot with IDA or another method, so don't waste the cash on those shampoos. Yes guys, it is a coin toss either way. A very small % of people will come back and post if they failed. I just wanted to be realistic for anybody that reads this thread and wants to give it a try. Hopefully you will have better luck than me. |

Hell Yes!!!
I was very worried about my pre-employment drug test for hair. I really wanted this job, and although I hadn't done a ton of drugs in the last 90 days, I only had 1 month to prepare. I stopped doing anythng, and really for the previous 90 days, all I really had to worry about was weed, but I had been smoking for about, I don't know, forever. I washed my hair with the aloe shampoo, hydrogen peroxide, and bleach for about two weeks. Each day I would shampoo, leave in for 5 minutes, then rinse and repeat.
I got surprised that they asked me to take the test about two weeks before I was expecting. That day, I immediately went and got a haircut to about 1 1/2 inches, went home, did the shampoo method three times, then washed with allclear which is a special hair drug test shampoo sold at my local head shop, then left in the regular hair conditioner to dry. Went and got my test, and four days later, came back clean, and got the job!! I can't tell you what a relief it was, and I owe it all to this method. I think I told just about all of my friends what I was doing, I even told the girl cutting my hair, and everyone thought I was crazy. But it was right on, and I just wanted to say thank you. Good luck to anyone else who reads this. |

I also used the IDA method precisely and have gotten a failing result on the hair follicle test. This was a dangerous procedure and will not attempt to appeal the results for I cannot put myself through this again. It was very harsh, and I am not saying it absolutely will not work, I just want to express the fact that there is an opportunity of failing even if devoutly following instructions given here. We will pick up the lab report tomorrow and try to figure out why the test was a fail.
