Hi all--my first time posting! Feel kinda wierd not contributing and just asking for info right away But anyway, here's the situation...

In order to get some $$ from a trust fund I have to "prove 6 months no drug use" At first I was like no problem because I quit weed a year ago, then started looking into the different drug tests available. I used some dexedrine, probably something like 20mg (no more than that) once a week for a couple months--I didn't think the tests would include legal substances, but then again its just the class that dexdrine is in.

So I'm going to try the hair wash methods described elswhere in this section, worst thing that will happen is I have to wait 6 months for the money.

Anyway, a more specific question I have is, if the trust says "must prove no drug use for 6 months" - does it matter if I go through a lab to have a hair test or can I buy one of those home kits? I haven't got the papwork in my hands yet, but from what I understand thats pretty much all it says.

So anyone know any legal stuff?! Those lab tests are hella spensive like $350 where I live and a home test is like $100. If the trust doesnt say exactly how the test is obtained, then does it matter?!

i would think that, because its inheritance, theyd probably want a legit professional drug screening. that doesnt necescarily mean a hair test though.

id take a look at the trust fund and find out what kind of test they are talking about

Yeah that sounds reasonable they would want a lab test but I guess that's the crux of it--if the trust isn't specific...then who's to say what/how its done as long as you can "prove" it.

I got the papers today, it says:
"A beneficiary must prove that he or she has been drug free for six (6) months prior to distribution."

and in another place:
"...provided that the beneficiary can show that he or she has been drug free for six (6) months prior to distribution."

So, they don't talk about any kind of test at all--just that you have to prove it--which I am hoping is vague enough to get away with some sort of home test since money is extremely tight.

What other test is available that can go back even for one month, besides a hair test? From what I've read saliva, sweat, urine, blood are good for one week at best.

I would assume that they would perform a hair folicle test due to the fact that they have to prove you have been clean for 6 months. The only test I know of that can provide that kind of info is a hair test. And given the inheritance money involved; I would bet a hair test is what you are probably looking at. Look at the thread:

Really, if you want to be absolutely sure, see if you can talk to a lawyer, hopefully one who is knowledgeable about the situation and will to begin with.


Either way, I'm glad you are quitting and taking the legitimate route, you will feel better. I don't know how sizable the inheritance is, but i'm sure its worth it. Good luck!
