Im clueless as to what brands are the real deal/best out there to use i wasnt sure if i am supposed to use water soluble fertilizers or liquid i will be growing outdoor. Now im also confused i read that loam soil with humus is highly recomemded where do i get this or am i supposed to put the loam together by adding the diff types of soil together if so how?? okay other question is when it comes time to feeding should i be adding the secondary nutrients: calcium, magnesium, and sulphur to the plant at the early stages of the seedling or wait to start with the normal start of feeding the plants at the vegative stage then flowering. I know only add secondary nutrients every three weeks and fertalizers ever fortnight(does that mean every 4th day/night)???? Also i wanted to buy micro nutrients just incase or to spoil my plants where also or whats a brand to look for?? I appreciate all your help i dont know much just what i read, i have no real hands on expirience thanks alot!! jake :eek:

Trying to find out if anyone has had success converting portable clothes closets or other prefabricated enclosures into good grow tents. We've got ourselves in a little deep the first time out and need to get out of the closet for a number of reasons.

Is this possible/practical? Or is it just better to buy a legit tent from a supplier/grow store?

I have decided to attempt my first indoor grow operation. I have had an outside garden the last few years but was not pleased with the quantity of quality of the smoke.

The space I have decided on is 25"x33"x66" (approx 2ftx3ftx5.5ft). This gives me a little less than 6 square feet.

I have read the grow bible and decided to go with a 400w HPS light. Here is the exact model I am looking at getting from a local supplier: Sun System 2 - 400 Watt HPS Enclosed Ballast Light...

Hello all.

Here is the exact model I am looking at getting from a local supplier: Sun System 2 - 400 Watt HPS Enclosed Ballast Light System

The space is a spare bathroom shower stall. While I dont feel comfortable dedicating the whole bathroom to growing, I do intend to hide the door behind a wall covering to prevent anyone from wandering in.
My plan at this point is to build a box that will fit in the shower stall. I plan on using FoxFarm Ocean Forest as my growing medium (but im open to suggestions). I have not decided on nutrients yet but I assume 15-30-15 is fine for veg, and 0-10-10 will be good for flowering(someone also suggested liquid budswel).

The bathroom has an exaust fan on the ceiling that vents outside. My plan is to vent the box using duct out through this. Does this sound like a viable option for venting? I have no idea what CFM rating the fan has, but it is a 12" fan.

My main question is, do I have space for a SoG setup? In the Growers Bible it said its good to have 1-2ft between HPS lamps and the plants. Im not sure if 5.5ft vertically will accomidate 2 seperate areas. I may just build another small box for veg and clones use florescents.

My seeds are bag picked unfortunatly. I know a few are a purple variety, and the rest are a indica/sativa mix (judging by the buds I got them out of).

I also plan to use bottled water as the tap water in my area is aweful. Cheap bottled water from costco should be suffiecent, correct?

Finally, how much should I be concerned about smell? I assume everyone is gonna agree on the 1plant/square foot for flowering, so im looking at about 6 plants. Like I said there is already a vent fan in the bathroom that blows out above the house. I also have the option of venting into the attic and then letting the attic exhaust fan do the work. Suggestions are very much appreciated.

Like I said this is my first indoor grow so anything I left out feel free to remind me. Anyone care to guess at some average yields in this setup? Thanks.

My plant started about a week ago, ive had it on 24 hour light since then
Ive heard its better to do 18/6? or 18/18?
Im not anything close to an expert but i grew previously with this light and transplanted them outside and it worked great(had them on 24 hr light before i transplanted)
So should i just keep it at 24 hour for now?

Ok, I admit I was a lazy butt and let my plants go way too long before 12/12. I was enjoying just watching the plants as they grew. Althought they came from the same shipment of seeds eventually I discovered one had a great lemony smell so I then was going to try to mother them..BUT I realized I hadnt tried anything from either plant. So I tried flipping to 12/12 and of course now I have the idiot problem that they are reaching the lights and I cant raise them anymore. I am about 3 weeks into...

I am about 3 weeks into it, have buds..Anybody know what happens if I go in and severly cut them back? They are at around 5' now. I would want to go to about 3' optimally. There is lots of growth at that level.Yes I will be sacrificing the majority of bud growth. If they will recover then thats ok..IF not i guess I can try to bend them or something like that...Im just looking for the easy way out. Suggestions anyone?
Thanks:(
