Hey..

I use a Lumatek Digital Ballast..

I've never used a normal ballast, so I wouldn't be able to say anything about it compared to the original ones..

But I will say that it is absolutely silent.

a digi 600 works at 95% of a non-digi 1K.
As long as you find one that doesn't create interference. Get the same one as D, he hasn't been complaining.

How can one test for interference?

Can cops use "interference" from a digital ballast to locate a grow?

If discovered to create interference, can a digital ballast be shieded in some way?

The ballast I use has a 5 feet interferrence if hooked up properly..

Personally I don't feel it at all, really.. And I doubt anything could be picked up on it.. But I'm a newb in this regard..

Regardless my ballast is excellent.. no noise at all, very little heat..

And it looks great

i am getting ready to buy several ballasts [1000w] and i have my reservations about the digital models... most of the people using them are running the smaller ones and love them... the 1000w ones STILL seem to be having trouble being returned to the grow shops for premature burnout... which is unfortunate for me since i like the advantages they can provide to your grow... more light , efficent, silent operation, and i think cooler running temps [i'm not sure on this point]... at any rate i will be running 7 lamps in my room and would do anything for better returns and cooler temps... still looking into them but the last time i checked they were still working out the bugs.....
