How to sterilize vermiculite?

My vermiculite got some algae soaked into it from a wick system that went bad. How do I go about sterilizing it so I can start over?

Oh ok. I've heard about putting dirt from outside in the oven, maybe I'll give it a try with the vermiculite. It is just rocks right? I'll just have to keep an eye on it, and make sure it doesn't burn. Thanks doc.
