Hydro plants going purple
Hi,
I am trying my 3rd hydro grow. I did well for several weeks; they grew think and strong, good nutes, temp, PH, light etc. Then after several weeks they got to be about 20" hi nice and round and bushy; I split them 2x so they have 4 main and 8 sub colas. Recently they have slowed growth and the tops are a little weak, and the top stems are all purple. Both hydro plants did this. They are a White Widow Buddha cross. The potted ones I have in soil (same strain/age) are doing great. My question is: Do I need to just move them to flower now? Are they lacking nutes? Could there be not enough CO2 or light? I have only about 260 watts of flouro over these 2 bushes; maybe need to boost the light? Also how about boosting the light with LED's is hit s a good option? One other was donig poorly and I moved it to the budding room which has like 400 watts on 3 little bushes so I'll increase light. Also how picky are they regarding temp and Humidity? Thanks, Matt, Denver CO |

I have a sock with bat guano, sea kelp and alfalfa in it. I just thought I haven't changed the water yet; how often do you change it? Yah I know it's ghetto but my family comes first; had to start somewhere.
Also I want to go to a better pro nute, they are moving into bud; do you recommend a good liquid all in 1 so I can get this thing working? |

OK: Veg room - temp 71 f humid - 54%
Bud room - temp - 82 humid - 44% I found algea on the roots. changed the water; seems like there is a lot of scale in Colo. water; calcium? It tests out like 250 ppm way hi calcium. Is there a way to de-calcify water or get rid of too much minerals before using? Also I switched to fox farm liquid nutes the ones with the big tomato on the front. The water looked clear and kind of tinted at first but now is getting cloudy. I added air stones to my tanks making a lot of bubbles hoping to get air into the roots. THe smaller plnat the roots in the water mostly fell off; a few stragglers left. The bigger plant the roots in the water are still OK but look kind of wierd; not healthy kind of wrong color, milky off white; and of course mineral deposits or salts or? Any clues? I really think I need better water or a way to filter out the excessive salts/minerals...? |

Calcification, hard water
I let the water stand in open gallon milk jugs (washed first) for 2-3 days.
I shoveled some snow into a bucket and let it melt; rain water is a cheap sollution. The new nutes are hwelping and I am foliar feeding while I get the roots cleaned up. The algea problem is gone si I am gong to just change the tank water and put rain water in. Oh also I went to WarMart and bought a cheapo aquarium filter and put it in the tank. I hope i donlt filter out any nutes; using fox farm liquid. Also today will move bigger hydro plant to bud room. They are small bushes but my light is better in the bud room and they generally expando as the buds form. You guys rock! We're starting a new med mar dispensary here in Denver and you are helping patients in pain. Peace, Rev Matt aka Squash |
