leds are very expensive. unless you desperately need low power consumption + low heat, then don't bother.

Edit: i am not a grower, but from what i have read here, you would need very many powerful leds for growing and that would be expensive.

They are still in "experimental" stage

I have a unit and from what I have seen over the last few months they work, but there is internodal stretching, so some type of supplemental lighting may be needed..I am using only red and I know some units have blue or white I guess and maybe that helps..Couple of positives. They are cool, no more heat problems. They are very night friendly..ie I run mine in the family room 24 hours a day and it doesnt disturb anyone at night..ya cant see the red light well..I think it is a technology that is coming, but at this stage unless you got lottsa bucks to buy whats on the market I suggest waiting a little while.

I agree about the LEDs. Apparently, they work well--despite their cheesey looks. Getting ripped-off sucks and I am leery of any "light soiurce" that costs $500+ for a small fixture. The same amount of LED light was 1/2 to just a 1/4 of the same cost, a year ago. Have a nice day.

yup

I agree, Heat is probably my biggest issue so it will be great if they ever get it going. For now I am going with air cooling the housing....A whole lot cheaper...If you have the space...
