Anyone know what we can do to finish off this tasty crop???
Hey guys,
Have a grow room with pretty much everything- 32 plants seated in a Hydroponic flood and drain system. Four vented 600 wt hps lights over head. Decent air circulation, two fans on pretty much all the time. Mylar walls. CO2 running, etc... I am growing OG Kush and Sour Diesel. The Kush finished right on time but the SD is taking forever. I am now three weeks past harvest and, while the buds on the SD are huge and dense, they just keep growing, and NOT maturing. There was some burnage, and yellowing on the buds of the SD plants but they have actually grown past most of the yellow the problem, is that the "hairs" are not turning amber, thus I cannot harvest ![]() Any ideas??? Thanks, Superhigh |

They say 9-11 weeks for the SD.
![]() I don't wait for amber resins. I look for several things, one is for cloudy resins. Are they cloudy? Watch for a change in the appearance of the bud, the calyxes usually plump up, and the trichomes start to glisten.......~ With sativas like you have, I've noticed that it happens quickly..............when you think they're not close...........sudd enly they're ripe. ![]() A pic?

with anything that typically runs over 70, i'd drop the lighting to 10/14 after maybe 8 or 9 weeks,
or generally about 2 weeks before i expected them to finish. my thought is that it will encourage even-finishing on longflowering plants that sometimes don't seem to like to finish up indoors.

drop to 10, I've seen one or two reports of sour diesel being finished off in total darkness
Personally I'd drop to ten I grow 3 strains that finish differently, harvest what is ready and let the others finish out as they please is another option

thanks/one more quick question
thanks for the help everyone
quick question: the buds from my sour deisel plants are really big, but fluffy... my buddy told me that this is how the buds naturally are. is that true? is there any point in wrapping them or somehow compressing them before they dry, right after i cut to tighten them up?not sure if i dig them like that... |

legit sour d will tend towards crowns of elongated spears.
when you say fluffy do you think they are too leafy, or do you just mean the buds are more delicately structured than the big dense tops you sometimes see in pictures? rather than being disappointed, you should celebrate being in possession of buds in perfect shape, trichromes intact.. never even a moment spent compressed in plastic. ![]()
