Finishing three strains in hydro
Thanks to your advice, I feel comfortable with the way I am going to finish these three different strains.
I have decided to commit to nine weeks. One might be a little early, one a little late.. but well within acceptable range and I will get a full flush on all three. If I were setup better I would clone the short one (half the size of other two) with very large dense buds... The one on the left (photo) I think might be 'white widow', I recall having saved a few of those seeds awhile back and the seeds were in a vial I kept labled 'chronz'. All three plants came from the same vial. I have about 6 or 7 beans left in that vial. The reason I think it's 'white widow' is how frosty and sweet smelling it is. I don't have good pics yet but I will get some. The short dank one I think is some nice indica. Not as frosty but frosty enough and capital D ...ANK. You'll notice the tips of the leaves curled up and brown. Not as bad as I have had in the past. A solid dignosis would help for the next batch, but I have always suspect PH. Not sure I try to keep at 6.5 and under... down to 5.5 lowest. That range seems to be the best for me. the nutes I use I got from the web and simply labeled.. I would like try other systems in the future. 1. BASE 2. GROW 3. CATALYST 4. BLOOM ..and I also use 'Monster Bloom' on top of that. I wish I could clone the short fat one but am not setup. You notice I am up to the cieling (7.5 feet) and stretchy plants are hard to deal with. I have gotten good at training them. You'll notice how I got most all the branches up in the canopy. I keep the light at angle on them when they get this high rather then bruise/bend the tops like some people do. I get good light distribution at this angle... about 2 fee off the plants. I could grow 6 of those short fat ones and get more bud. I may buy some good seeds off the net that grow short, with fat buds. Thanks for looking and any advice is appreciated.

Great work mate, some great frost on those buds. Hope they finish well for you.
Doesn't look like much light at the base. Maybe consider scrog, or shorter veg period for the next grow......or more lights ![]() Good pics too; how's the smell? |

those things are definitely insanely tall.. but you've really worked them quite well. is there a reason you let them get so big during veg?
is your space quite tall & narrow as it looks? maybe a totally vertical bulb/scrog is the way to go? seen the vertical thing done before when ended up needing to leave things in veg too long. sure does happen around here a lot, to be honest but for your dimensions it might actually be a great way to go from the start.but anyways, great job to angle the lamp to get the most out of them as they stretched a bit beyond what you had probably hoped for.. nice ramp-style training of the plants. cool pictures, and most definitely will be some great looking buds. it'd be cool to see some dry shots if you find a moment.. but enjoy them either way. ![]()

with every one pulled to about the same hight you are able to bring your light down more, I grew in soil so I didn't have to move them around much, but not long after the strings got loose so I was able to remove them this is what I ended up with

My VEG time was only two weeks from seed! (started Jan 1st).. they grew a couple shoots and I put em' on 12 hours. They showed me sex exactly two weeks later. (feb 1st). Its genetics as the indica is HALF the height and the buds are FAAT. I can handle stretching. no biggy its just the way it is. some stretch allot, others not as much, if you dont train them you'll have a hard time. I trained these everyday of their lives to get them like this lol! They are at 7 weeks right now.. and will go 2 more weeks to harvest. (first week of april). Gonna be a tastey harvest, I am expecting around half a pound from the three plants. That seems to be my average harvest when I do things right and these are about my best in 7 or 8 grows. I'll try and post some more pics later from today when lights go on. Ideas on the leaf tips (just the tips) curling up and turing brown? Omerta

7 Weeks
Well... I'm at 7 weeks, that puts me two weeks away according to the plan.
At next week they will have a full week flush, and nine weeks is the target. (two weeks flush) Here's some more pics... foxtails showing, but I think i''m right on schedule. What kind of vibes are the resident (farmers-lab) technicians getting? Omerta

Tommorow will be 8 weeks.
Here's a full shot and the top of the indica... Note how short she is compared to the other two. (inset) The big-ass bud dead-center of the photo belongs to the big lady on the right. The 'widow' has the whole left side to herself and smells like a dead skunk. She's filling out great, is sugar-coated, sticky. The 2nd photo is the top of 'shorty' ... lots of deep purple and blue in there. Omerta..

63 Days flowering.
The mongo bud in the above photo (dead center) is the biggest bud I have ever grown. It's about 2 feet long and I dunno, FAT. Obvisouly from being in the most prime location for light. This monster bud belongs the one lady on the right. This is about the best shot I can get of it. I'll try and get more. One thing is this fat-ass bud is kicking out whit hairs like no tommoroow and all the leaves are still very green whereas the rest of the plant is considerably yellowed, like shes putting it ALL into it. The rest is all turning amber a bit and fat, swollen pistol pods (whatever you call em). I have notice in hydro, some buds will just keep growing and growing. Any ideas on how i should proceed? They have been flushing for over a week and my target is friday (9 weeks) Should I let the MONGO-ASS bud continue until it is ripe enough? I could harvest anytime staring friday.. should I harvest in stages until everything is ripe? Having three strains and freekish steroid buds like this is hard to finish. lol! Omerta

I wonder if this stuff had anyting to do with it...
First time I used, very pleased because all of the buds even popcorn have filled out nice. The excessive stretching makes it seem like the buds are sparse but I assure you its only because of the photography and perspective. the closet is 4 and a half feet wide and 7 and half feet tall. Omerta Monster Bloom

I harvest in stages.
And I like The Monster Bloom too, regardless of the price!

to me the bud in post 15 doesn't look near ready. Finish times get stretched when using an underpowered lamp, keep that in mind.

agreed about it needing quite a bit more time.. hairs are very long & it needs time to fill out... plant is doing a lot of work to sustain its vegetative growth and lower budsites which is why you may have difficulty getting her to finish up.
you could potentially begin to increase dark period length, hitting 10/14 in about a weeks time, and also chop off a bit of the lower growth as it finishes and is flushed proper... this should help to encourage an even finishing of the top.
