Anyone Ever Used LED Lighting for A Gonja Grow
I have done some research and heard alot of testimonials of the led Lighting that is available. I liked it and recently just bought 4 panels of 225 led's each some in the blue spectrum and some in the red spectrum. The only Issue is I haven't seen anyone use them for weed. I have seen some amazing results with herbs and indoor plants but I'm am quite curious as to how efficient these lights are for flower. Anyone have any experience with these lights and what can I expect from two plants grown under these panels in the SCROG technique? Please any knowledge on LED's is useful to everyone.

I was doing more research on the matter of led's and growing herb and came across this. Looks pretty cool. I noticed they and other people using the leds to grow are talking about bulbs with about (guess) 10 leds in them. Im gonna be rocking 4 panels which this guy shows in the link. his panels have 270 I believe mine has 225 each but I have 4. look at the results of his grow with less LED's. Lol, he's just missing a disco ball and a smoke machine for his plant party. Maybe the smoke machine comes later.
Any particular reason you want to use LEDs? Compact fluoros are probably a better bet for cheap and cool lighting, but you could always try a combo?

leds use way less power than even compact fluorescents. they do use them in some greenhouses (don't know which wavelength or anything) so its possible to grow plants with the right leds

I have used floros. I'm simply trying these out and answering a bunch of questions on the way. Also compact floros may be good for veg stage they are not ample enough to flower for a very good yield. Also LED"S use a vast less amount of electricity. No worries the disco ball and fog machine will be in order for harvest dont you worry.

Another bonus of LED's is that they won't spike your electricity bill.

i tried this thread no to long ago with no luck. all the "testimony" is from the manufacturer of the light so its like watching an infomercial at 3 am. if it does half of what they say it will be worth it. hopefully i'll have the ability to try this out. i have said it before and i will say it again but if overgrow was still around someone if not a bunch of people would have posted threads about actual led use pros and cons. i sure hope that all that testimony is true but it sounds too good to be true and you know what they say about that.

Hi. I'm currently experimenting with the Red/Blue LED light panels. I'm supplementing T-5 Flouro's and trying to keep a light tight environment. So far the results are pretty amazing. The LED lights aren't bright to my somewhat human eye, so I wasn't expecting much, but the plants are a good 2-3 weeks ahead of the others which are under a 600W digital. They're all around 5 weeks in, so I'll keep you posted. I think the technology is too new for a lot of feedback yet. If it ain't broke, smart growers know not to fix it. But the benefits are way too obvious if we can figure out how to grow the plants with the technology. I'm eager to hear of any ways to make it better. Please keep us posted with your findings. Thanks.

OKAY>>>
I've got my growbox pretty much done now, got some beans sprouted under a seedling dome, and got my 4 ebay light panels installed... also using 6 CFLs in the cabinet. I'm growing dwarf strains (LowRyder Diesel and LoLife seeds mix pack), so height isn't a concern for me. the box is only 2ft deep by 3ft wide by 2.5ft high, giving me 5sqare feet of grow space. I have painted every square inch of the cabinet white, even the bottom. The LEDs are mounted along the two 3ft sides, 2 each. the CFLs are mounted to the hinged cover...all six of them. It kinda looks like a box you'd keep boots in, or something.... This may not be a fair assessment of the LEDs as such, but I'm mainly using them to give side-casted light to the plants. I also have three 31CFM fans (like compter case fans, only heavy-duty 115Volt jobs), 1 for air in, one for air out, and 1 for circulation. All of the air in the box will be renewed in under a minute. Planning on a small sea-of-green grow after the dwarf beans are gone, using some KC Brains Brazil X KC. Pictures should be up by tomorrow, after I'm done with the detail work. |
