what about the old leaves

I am using an aro 60. easily the easiest grow ever with great results...i think it will any ways they look great! But if you know what an aro 60 is you realize that space is an issue. I want to take off the old huge 9-11 finger fan leaves to give some light to the buds under them. I have heard that once the veins and stalk of the leaves turn purple the leaf can be plucked is this true?

I never heard that one before...ie veins and stalk turn purple. Fan leaves turn starch into sugar for the plants energy. If space is the issue then you can take off the ones that are shading your inner buds. However, when the fan leaves turn yellow they are done doing their thing, usually at the end of your flowering cycle, harvest the top halves of your plants and leave the smaller buds to develope for another week or two. That's what most of us do. And red stems might mean you need more ferts in NPK and Magnesium. Hope I've helped. Smokin'

If the fan leaves are healthy, tie 'em or bunch them together with a jute in order to shed more light under the big fan leaves.

I've seen red stems in plants which are to cold or stressed due to poor weather.
