T5 lightning
Hi. I have this fixture and was wondering if I could use it for a couple of clones in the vegetative state. Right now I have 2 'white' lamps and 3 actinic lamps, 54w each. Is there some place that discusses T5 for growing? I saw some pics in High Times of T5's.

That's a nice fixture... except for the price. Jesus saves, and $462 for a 5-tube flo fixture does not at all meet The Lord's definition of a bargain. (I am Jewish, you know.)
The Lord clones and veg's under CFL's, blooms under 1000W HPS on the Holy Light Rail. |

Thanks, Jesus.
Actually, the fixture is for saltwater aquariums to grow corals. I got a good deal on it and got it for $450 with the 5 bulbs and shipped. Will the T5's work for my flowering stage? |

The Lord has no experience with T5, but The Lord did find these threads on the non-yahookan, and therefore pagan, forums:
cfl or t5 lights? - Marijuana Growing New Wave T5 Grow...IM NOW A BELIEVER !! - Cannabis.com Forums Message Boards - Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Club, Dispensary, News The second link reports very positively on blooming with T5... but The Lord is always slightly suspicious of such glowing review of non-standard technology, as The Lord does sometimes wonder if the posters of such "truth" are not possibly proprietors of blasphemous deceit. The Lord would wish very much that you, my child, would attempt a full grow cycle using only the T5's, and report your findings. The Lord, (actually The Lord's Wife,) does appreciate highly any and all methods of cutting utility costs whenever possible. Blessed are the shepherds - Blessed are they who would pioneer new trails for the flock! Jesus H. |

No problem. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and document it as it grows. Right now I'm using the following lamps: Giesemann Actinic Plus UVL Super Actinic UVL Aquasun Giesemann Actinic Plus Giesemann Aquablue in that order... I'm growing a clone that was a gift from my dealer. He told me it was some mango haze and that I should start flowering ASAP because it was going to get big. It is growing in soil, 18/6. He also gave me the pot and soil, so I don't know what it is. Plant is about 10 inches tall. Went to that website but I didn't read through the whole thread. Plus, I couldn't even see the pics, so that was discouraging. Amen! |

Problem with most of the T5 fixtures sold on eBay is that they don't have individual reflectors. In the saltwater aquarium business, this is a must when choosing a T5 fixture. Trust me, those guys are really sick when it comes to their lightning.
The ATI Power Module is the Cadillac of T5 fixtures. You can only get them from this guy if you live in the US. Just a FYI. |

Gimme: The Lord is troubled by the photos of your ailing child, but The Lord does see your intentions as pure, and The Lord of course commendeth thee for accepting an orphan into your home.
The Lord sees from the over-ripe pistils that the child was cloned from a mother who was in full bloom. The Lord cloned a blooming plant this past winter just for fun, but was not pleased with the slow veg growth as compared with clones taken from pre-pubescent moms, and so ended the experiment with a sacrificial burial. The Lord sees from the skinny, tall and much leafless stem, that the child is straining for light. The Lord sees from the blood red stems (unless peculiar to that strain,) that the child is suffering a nutrition problem... of which type, The Lord is not experienced enough to know. Taking a cutting from a blooming mother will create a clone in the exact same stage of life as the mother, so fert requirement for such a clone would take some creative thought. As the child is now back in veg state, The Lord would try a very weak mixture of N fert, and check new growth for green stemmage (but this is only what The Lord would try, and The Lord is certainly no expert.) Finally, The Lord sees the over-watering as a sign of the nervous parent, one who might accidentally kill one's own child with kindness if not able to BACK OFF! The Lord believes all men and women are guilty of the cardinal sin of over-parenting on their first leafy children. The Lord recommends: 1) Light. Lots of light. Ask my father for some - he has so much, it leaks out of his butt when we turn the lights out every night. It's a real pain to try to sleep in the same room with him. (He snores like a mofo too.) 2) Water not by any schedule, but by the weight of the pot: Let the soil dry out, then send down the Holy Flood of Heaven, then drought, then flood, drought, flood... The Lord grows in 3 gallon pots, and waters only when his children are dry, 3 liters at a time. 3) The Lord would give weak N ferts at this point... or maybe a bit of P? The Lord does not know. The Lord does advise though, that as your child is weak, whatever nutrient you try, you try it in extreme moderation. 4) Is there such a thing as extreme moderation? The Lord wonders? This is a photo of one of The Lord's clone grows this past winter. They were lovely children from start to finish, and The Lord was able to find every single detail he needed in raising them from searching through the ancient scrolls of yahooka. Study the scrolls, my child, and ye shall find the truth ye seek. Jesus H. |

Thanks Jesus.
I showed this thread to my dealer and he said that cloning a plant while it's flowering is not a problem. He also said that this plant is a sativa and grows tall. He has some almost ready to harvest, so I'm going to take some pics tomorrow. He also said your clones look very nice. No offense, but this board is dead. I mean, my post still the first one? Is there a discussion forum with more action than this one? |
