underground indoor grow

My friend has an unfinished basement, and by that I mean it is completely dirt and is fairly easy to dig through. Would it be a bad idea to start a small underground grow?

The plan is too first dig the whole. Line each wall and floor with bricks/cinder blocks. Then line the cinder blocks with white painted plywood. Place a light under a board, include fan and natural C02 intake[derived by brewing beer nearby and allowing the C02 burps to be expelled by the plants].

Anyone have any experiance with this? Bad Idea to grow underground, any pests and/or bacteria to be alarmed of? Is the temp too low? How deep should I dig this whole, like 5-6 feet?

Any other creative input appreciated, or ideas, or possible problems.

Interesting concept...........I knew someone who knew someone else, and, he grew something like that. Only diff I can think of is that he bored holes into the dirt floor with a gas powered........(ummm the name in english slips me) thing a mig-jig for ice hole fishing! Ventilation and soil recipe are very important.

Try and get a before shot for us.........~

Good Luck and keep us on the front burner.

Yeah the concept sounds pretty loopy to be completely honest, but we just want to up security. It's very experimental. There'll def be some shots posted as soon as I can dig up that fucking whole hahah. Might take a couple days..

We would just use the basement or his bedroom walkin closet again, buuuut people found them there last time and word got around too fast, he was beggining to get monitored so we had to kill his harvest premature...

how did people find out? If you have people in your basement, wouldn't they still see the hole? Or some evidence of it?

Sounds dangerous, frankly. Make sure that tunnel doesn't collapse on you. Also make sure you don't undermind the foundations of the house itself. You'll want to make sure the house doesn't shift.

Why don't you just get some pots and grow in those down in the basement? If you run into trouble you can move them without disturbing the plants and that way you know what your soil or soil-less mixture has in it. No guessing. That's what I would do. But then I'm old, as you can guess from my user name, and I tend to do things with a thought to the future and what could happen and how I can handle problems that could come up in an easy manner. Just think ahead a little and you'll be okay.

Well I don't know if it's going on anymore(I moved) but I will post my old plans here so that way you guys can get a good idea of what I was saying. It isn't some huge underground tunnel system or something, and it is disguisable.

Smokinsince60's thoughtful advice but my friends house is very "hot" and he shouldn't have been growing period. Though hes one of those guys that if you take part of the risk with him he'll reward you so I was just thinking about some ideas... I will draw the plans in paint tonight and post them!

You could pretty easily disguise this by putting a little dirt over top and some cardboard boxes... Also there was an idea to cut a cubby(s.p?) whole out and brew beer/wine/whatever and allow the C02 to escape into the room(from the fermentation). I left that out of the plans because that is probably unnecessary...

Or I guess if you wanted to do this outside on say a bigger scale, you could have the exhaust fan to get fresh air underneath straw or cut wholes in a plank of wood and cover everything but those with dirt, then plant/transplant some shrubs over top so no one could see.

Though this is probably pretty whack, I guess it was just an idea. Thanks for the read.
