Refilling carbon scrubbers
I`m just starting a new grow after a break. My KC Brains NL seeds have germinated nicely even after being in my fridge for over a year. Yey! I was only hoping for 1 or 2 females but looks like I`ll have a few to choose from. Every gentleman`s dream!
In a while I`ll be putting the resulting plants into flowering. My carbon filter has begun to pong a little due to nearly 2 yrs scrubbing. Does anyone have any tips on refilling? Having read some old posts that seem to be saying you may as well buy a new filter than try to repack your old one. Maybe I`ve misinterpreted the posts. Anyone had any experience? Any good activated charcoal sources? ![]()

The easiest place to find it is fish (pet) stores: they sell it in milk cartons for air filters. It's pricey that way, but you're not going to raise any flags buying stuff for an aquarium.
I made my own scrubbers. It was a bit of a pain in the ass, but with some tupperware, a glue gun, a lot of active charcoal, and some window screen material I was all set. I had two of them, inline with eachother, for a total of maybe $40. They don't need to be fancy or look pretty; they just need to work. |

Cheers; I just chickened out and bought one, the price differential didn`t seem enough to merit the hassle but I have respect for people who can sort their own stuff out.

yep for what it's worth, recommendation is always just replacing it.
carbon is one of the only potential DIY jobs best left to the pros, imo. ![]()
