More pics. The clones are doing so-so as you can see (couple dead another 3 or so looking peaky) I think I`ll use rockwool cubes next time (hopefully get a more consistent proccess) but been too busy to get any over the last week or so- it`s been hard to get time to even water the flowering plants in their 12 hrs of light, been real rushed.
Meant to finish the vegging chamber today and move the clones over but felt too hung over hehe. I think I`ve positively identified 4 females so far with the last plant uncertain as yet! Needn`t have blown all those beans but you never know until you know. See the pic with the arrow pointing to the little hairs coming out of the pistil- always a welcome sight as it means it`s a girl. I pinched the tops of the flowering girls just after taking these pics. Should have done it sooner really. This should mean two coli instead of one (I might top a couple again to see if they`ll go into four).

appreciate the compliment,
i've always got an extra ounce of respekt for the guys who build their own custom rigs instead of ordering those massive pvc boxes for hundreds of bucks. usually see better results too.. & many thanks for sharing pics of the whole process.. it's nice to see them all the way through. this forum needs more folks like yourself!

Dunno what I`ve done but I must be doing something right 5/5 have turned out female. Almost the same thing (4/5) happened last time I germed 5 KC brains Mango. Maybe KC Brains are selling fems under the guise of regular?
Just to provide info the Mangos were germed in Biobizz Allmix and the NL were germed in Plagfon Lightmix both under a 250w flouro. Can`t think of any other relevant factors. ?

The clones are doing ok ish- the 5 that were struggling at the start have died, all the rest are still looking healthy although no signs of roots poking out of the bottom yet, 11 days so far so since cutting so I hope for visible roots soon-
(farmergiles contemplates the virtue of patience....)

Lols. 3.125% chance of this happening I think. I did once have 3/3 seeds germed to males but that`s only 1 in 8, not 1 in 32. I was happy when I saw the first girl!

No but next time I`m gonna get some rockwool cubes maybe sitting on a bed of perlite, I think you may have a point.

Just returned from 2 weeks away having entrusted my plants to the care of a friend who whilst being reliable and discreet knows little of MJ cultivation. Little bit nerve racking but on return I found that-
1: All the flowering plants were alive although looking a bit N starved. I hadn`t told my friend to feed them `cos I figured the plants had a better chance with no nutes than too much. I tested the ph of the soil and found it around 7.5- bit high but shouldn`t cause nute lock up. Pulled all the yellow leaves off (sorry no pics my batteries for the digicam are charging) and gave them some N rich plant food along with a bit of molasses and epsom salts. I`ve lost most of the fan leaves from the lower end of the plants but I can live with a slightly decreased harvest this time. 2: At least two clones from each plant have survived so I still have 5 mothers to choose from. I`ve repotted the two likeliest looking clones from each plant as some of them were looking well rootbound. Because I only vegged the plants for just under a month before flower I`m gonna select which plant to clone from after I`ve flowered the first set of clones. This should give me better chance to select the best one for repeated cloning- the plants I`m flowering now may not reach their full potential as they havn`t been vegged out properly- the clones have now.

hey FG,
how big are your pots? (the ones that you veg your mothers in the first page of the thread). Just wondering, cause i m about to order some. i want to do a sea of green (or even scrog) in my next grow, but straight from seed (no cloning). The area is .75cm x .75 so i dont know yet if i should put 4 x 11liter (25cm) pots (and have some space on the sides of the tent for air circulation) or 9 x 11liter (25cm) pots (and have the whole .75 x .75 space covered). any thoughts? |

The ones in the pics are 190x190x250mm although they`re a little small for these girls. I won`t be vegging the clones as tall next time though. I`ve got some 250x250x290`s as well which is probably a better size if you`re growing from seed. You`ll appreciate a bit of room around the edges I think, lets the light further down the plant, otherwise they might want to stretch.

As you can see the clones are beginning to sort themselves out, I`ve got two from each mother repotted, they`ve all established roots. Thats the good news.
As you can also see the flowering plants have lost most of their fan leaves while I`ve been away (N deficiency I suspect). Having dosed them up they seem to be doing better now. I`ll be giving them as much flowering nutes as possible to try and get them to chunk up. Also note they`re way too tall for the pots. I`m not too bothered, I knew the first generation would not reach their full potential as I didn`t let them veg until preflowering, as long as I get some decent bud then the next generation is the critical one. Going on holiday and leaving your grow with someone else is always unnerving, I was just happy that everything was still alive. ![]() I`m watching Tokin`s LST thread with interest, as you can see I could have done with some of that.

Well I`m ordering a 600w Lumatek digi ballast, a Ecotechnics cool shade reflector (it`s like air cooled glass enclosed), various bits and bobs to sort the ducting out, a tray of rockwool cubes, some Formulex, a 400w and a 600w Sodium bulb. Should keep me going for the near future.

Does Ecotechnics Diamond Reflector take any heat away? or is it just a reflector?
Your Cool Shade Reflector looks pretty kick arse, be interesting to see how close you can get those HPS. Next run rockwool? |
