good seeds not germinating :(
my friend went to amsterdam and picked me up 2 feminized g 13 seeds
i germed em like i did the mid, wet paper towel sealed plastic bag, in my pocket all day for body heat. i never put things in that pocket so i was careful not to smash em, well its been 3 days and still not nuthn i picked em up and they were pretty slippery, so i was thinkn maybe their coatd with sumtn and impervious, so i took my fingernail file and fild it a lil. not much the surface of where the seed was scratched turned color so im guesn i wiped of sumkind of layer, nuthn deep i dought they are bad seeds cuz my friend already grew one of em cuz he had like 8. tell me what yall think btw i just scratched em, and put em back in the bad and towel, its the 3rd night, maybe 4th, since begining of germination |

Actually your pocket might have been too hot! your body temp is 98 deg. but seeds need to be between 70 and 90 deg. Your pocket could have reached temps of higher than 90. Seeds need oxygen AND water to germinate. You could have suffocated it or not had the paper wet enough while in your pocket. Sometimes it is necessary to "score" or scratch the surface of the seed to get it to soak up the water it needs, but that is very rare.

A week ago I tried spouting some Bubblicious seeds. 6 days later nothing. I scratched that idea and started ICE seeds. the next day, I had 3 ICE seedslings. The WW I am also flowering at the moment took 2 days also, but those seeds are about 6 months old. I have no idea how old the Bubblicious and ICE seeds were.
Keeping seeds in your pocket could cause them to crack which will dry up the meaty insides killing the seed. |

Will good seeds fail to germinate? It seem logical that good seed germinates, and bad seeds won't.
If you can clarify what you mean by "good seed", like say a good strain, we might be able to solve the enigma of why good seeds don't germinate. |

Germination really just means to survive, mostly on its own, to get to the second stage in a healthy life. The purpose of a gardener such as yourself, would be to care for a plant that will in turn, yield something of good value to you, the caregiver.
So anyway, in order to have a healthy plant you want a healthy seed and a healthy germination! If you use a seed that is unhealthy then....guess what? So a healthy seed should look brown with dark spots, it should be hard and hopefully big. If a seed does not meet these specifications, then the chance of a germination failing is very high. BUT! If you are not careful, even an ideal looking seed could fail to germinate, for any of multiple reasons. A "good seed" could mean different things though. For a newer grower, "good seeds" should mean any big, dark, hard seed they can find out of the last bag they bought. To someone with money to throw around, "good seeds" could mean a 120 dollar bag of 10 seeds from a supplier. |

Sorry to hear the issue. It sucks when you invest in good seed only to have them peeter out on you. If it was legal, I would offer you a few of the WW seeds I have. I have the stealth shipping container for them, just need the laws behind me. I grew out bag seed for 4 years before venturing out to buy good genetics.

I remember back in 3rd grade I had a box of those little popper thingies in my pocket that you toss onto the ground and the pop. Well there was either too much heat or pressure and the entire box exploded in my pocket.

I guess seed breeders have to compromise sometimes.
Suppose a breeder found a strain with high thc, good spidermite and mold resistance and a quick flowering time but one that produced small seeds which were hard to germinate. If it were difficult to breed for better seeds without losing some other quality then the breeder would probably go ahead and market the strain anyway. The biggest fattest seeds I`ve ever seen came from random low grade weed. Highly developed hybrids seem to often have tiny seeds which are more difficult to germinate. In natural selection germination is probably tantamount. Artificial breeding could use any quality as the prime factor depending on what criteria the breeder is using.

Next time put it on top of the fridge... may not work on new fridges... damn it.
Or anywhere it will be stationary and the temps are steady. Then if it fails you will know it's not your fault. Unless it was something on your fingers when you handled them etc... |
