Jack X Chitral, 1st grow, need help

This is the first time growing this strain and am hopeful that the experts here can help. Started some beans that a friend gave. Jack X Chitral. They were given a year ago and only 4 out of the 10 sprouted. Early in their development, 2nd week in veg, one developed "wilt" and it passed. I cloned the plant and they are responding well. The photo attached is the remaining 3's 4th week.

I have never had plants in my E&F system be so short, although they are very bushy, in their 4th week. Normally they are over 2' where these are only 14" to 18" tall.

I have rigorously maintained a good environment, 4'x4'x7' grow cab well vented and clean, am using a large bank (3.5' x 3.5') of large CFLs (I can vary the location and amount of light and this has been very successful before); the girls are on a 20/4 schedule now.

The E&F rez is changed every week with daily monitoring on the PH & PPMs. I use organic nutes and some additives. As the wilt was an issue I flushed and cleaned the entire system and reduced the nute regiment back to a more root productive effort.

Am prepping to change them into flower (pray they are all/most/some/one? females) and would like advise on how I can get them into a better state (more growth) for flowering and potential production. I am now starting to go back, since the plants look very healthy, to using Liquid Karma and foliar with Liquid Light & Pentrator twice a week @ half strength). I am still using Sensizyme and Green Fuse root stimulator.

Thanks for the wonderful welcome. But I feel so old when that many years comes back into view by others. But seen things, ya.

I am holding out 1 more week in veg and then 12/12. Having no experience with this strain my personal data bank is zip. I have only read about grows of shorter plants.

I believe the girls are back on their running feet; their daily liquid intake is up, approximately 1.05 liters per day. So I have restarted the Liquid Light and the Penetrator regime. I have also started to use Hygrozyme. Too many peeps have urged its use.

I thought stretching the plants but at this stage in their development that might be more harmful than productive.

I hope there are some of you that have had experience with this strain and would lend some advise my way.

Yeah they look like they`ve been looked after. Sounds like you know what you`re doing so I hesitate to offer advice except-

I`ve grown Jack Herer before, it was a bit stretchy, not insanely so. Chitral is an indica from Pakistan often used to make hash. So it`s gonna be bushy, maybe the Chitral is the dominant parent. I wouldn`t worry about them being too bushy, my problem is usually keeping them short enough! They may show some Jack tendencies once they go under 12/12.

Thanks Farmer. I will dose them later this week with LL and put them into 12/12. The beans were given to me by a friend who knows and I would like to do well by her and for the plants. I believe that the Chitral is dominant in this strain as I have seen that most Jack's are mainly Sativa and therefor taller.

Plants look nice man You re doing a few things right to keep em this way.

I also think that the Citral is dominant, but like FG said, Jack can show later on in flowering.

Are you gonna put em under an HPS for flowering?

Thanks Peace for the response. I was just debating leaving them under the CFLs or bringing the HPS out. The HPS might give them the burst of difference they need;? Thanks again.

imho bring the hps out.

You mentioned that the beans came from a good source (good genes).

Might as well give em full potential to grow thick buds

Yeah as long as you`re set up to handle the temps HPS will get the the most and best bud for your buck IMO. You`ve got the headroom so should be fine.

i must admit that they look lovely for being grown (just) under CFLs

Thanks Farmer & Peace. I have been using CFLs for both phases for the last 2 grows and have been very happy. The heat issue is a big one for me and that is why the switch from HIDs to CFLs. But seeing that they are not up to my height hopes right now I am contemplating bringing out the old reliable HPS for the flowering. I am very impressed with 2 new products I am using; Liquid Light and Hygrozyme. I also have a 90% success rate with the clones from the one I lost to wilt. Is it my monitor.........but is there dis-coloration going on?

Thanks Farmers & Pharmgirl. The discoloration is the varying greens from new growth, a lighter green, to mature fan leaves at a darker green. There are a few fan leaves with striations of lighter green; is there something I should be doing to avoid/encourage this? THANKS

Due to the shortness of the plant and the "bushiness"; should I be trimming the fan leaves to allow for more light to the developing branches in the flower phase? Thanks again to ALL.

Were it me, I would prune the lowers so there was a few inches tween the baby's lowest leaves and the soil, they make goot clones as well.
But that is more for air movement. Other than that I wouldn't trim a thing.

Nice looking babies, but just a tad of magnesium (a weak mix)is needed by the looks of the leaf tips.

Thanks Danda. I am using PPG as the main nute and Karma, Hygrozyme and Sensizyme as additives. What would give the additional mag that is needed? Thanks again.

Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) maybe 1 teaspoon dissolved per gallon of water.
