Might be just about OK for veg, a bit more oomph would be good for flowering. Remember that that 40w is spread along 48".

Perfectly fine if bulb is placed as close to plant top as possible without possible burning.40w Floro's push useful energy about 6 inches, then it tapers off sharply. Good for babies. Try for the proper spectrum if you are using floro's for plants in veg stage or at the very least a full sun spectrum bulb.
Fuck! the old brains gone tits up! I can't remember which spectrum you want.

the 2000K-2500K are for flowering and the higher numbers... 5000K-5500K are for veg.

I have seen guys who flower by leaning a floro against a wall over a plant and turning the plant every few days.
Slunt is right and floro tubes aren't very efficient. But a few shop lights placed vertically in a box for a couple plants...

6 shop floros with 2 tubes a piece, 2 on each longer wall and 1 on each side wall of the small grow chamber maybe?

It's been done for decades now, so why not?

There is a slightly more efficient way to grow under floro's but it involves a screen placed under the light which with your manual help will cause the plant to grow sideways and only the branch tips grow up towards the light.This way the weak 6" light rays can reach the entire plant. this way you may achieve 6-10 grams a plant.

by manual help are you reffering to tieing or topping? or if im mistaken please xplain. and im going to try to get another set to lean sideways against the wall so that there are top lites and side lites.

Tying would work best for a screen. With topping you`re wasting the plant`s energy as you cut it back.

It would work but it looks like your losing most of the light from the tube on the right. Cfl`s would probably be the easiest and cheapest to add.

Many as you like. 20w? 12w? Whatever you can get for the right price I guess especially if they give off the right colour like what Dan said.

got two cfl bulbs. 30W equivalent to 120W. 2000L 3500K

total; 4000L, 7000K, 60W = 240W

final; 10,400 Lumens, 15,200 K, 320W

good or no?

Should be good.

Ignore the bit where they say "equivalent to". For this purpose a 30w cfl = 30w. So you`ve got 140w total.

Also you don`t add the colour temperature together- two blue lights don`t make an ultra violet light. So you`ve got 80w at 4100K and 60w at 3500K for a total of 10400 Lumens.

ah i see. so you say this should work just fine? all these terms are confusing as hell right now. maybe cuz i jus woke up n burnt a j, or maybe cuz im stupid. but once again i wanna thank everybody for helpin me out n everything. as progress is made, or questions are needed i will be sure to let you guys know.
