Outgassing Grow Tents

I have not seen it listed here so I thought I might bring it up (again if not covered before. I have had problems with grows while in a HydroHut grow tent. I had written these experiences off to my dumb ass. However I have a friend that may have given me the reason for the issues. It seems the PVC coated lining of the grow tents has "out-gassing" issues that effect sensitive plants. Of course growing hydro makes all plants sensitive I believe. I have done additional research on the effects of PVC and am astonished. Subsequently I have packed up, in an air-tight container, the old tent and now am looking for all PVC made items in the home to dispense with as well.Check this link out Grow Tent OutGassing / Offgassing WARNING!! - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums check it out. If I am wasting the forums' time on this I apologize but this is big for me.

wasting a stoners time? is that an oxymoron?

we had a thread like this about a year ago, the person was sending their tent back for a refund, or replacement.
a reminder is great as we have new members, and we pass over things first time around sometimes.
What I'm saying is, thanks for sharing, never hold back from posting something.

Second day without the tent and the girls are already looking stronger; I feel better also. My friend in Europe tells me that the EU may be placing bans on some PVC products within the next 3 years.

I spoke a professor of Public Health this weekend that agreed that humans are at risk due to PVC outgassing. He went on to tell me that it depends on the particular item, its proximity and other factors as to the degree of hazard but most American households are at risk. After hearing what I have, I am concerned for Joe and all the plumbers out there that have to saw/glue and generally use this hazardous crap for a living. It is also amazing the amount of PVC components/items that are in most households. Of course I will get a response as to the minimal risk of PVC but that sounds faintly like the old "global warning is a myth" response to me.

the risk is unknown.
we'll be experts in retrospect.

Just Google PVC and read the effects of PVC that are coming to light. There were clincal studies done in Italy 20 years ago that pronounced PVC as a hazard. The study was quickly dismissed and very little other studies have been done since then. Poly Vinyl Chloride is not just an organic based material. The 1,000s of plants that produce it, especially, in China and other unregulated countries mix all type of shit into it. I have seen first hand the difference in PVC pipe from the US and from Guana and the differences are remarkable. Koshiva do you own or have you owned this type of product? For me, I would rather error on the side of caution than to throw caution to the wind. The possibilities of ill effects is enough for me to seek alternative methods than to resign my family, myself and my plants to contaminants. If you feel they are OK and the problem has just been with weak or inexperienced growers, I have a HydroHut grow tent you can buy real cheap. I am very skeptical of anyone that is willing to defend the PVC industry at this point. Rather than resigning ones-self to bio-hazards, why not strive to find alternative methods where the hazards are removed or diminished?

It's likethe plastic water bottles IMO
I agree if you have good ventilation there can be no worries... in the tent.
It's like the first plastic plumbing lines, they gave out toxins when using warm/hot water through them. They changed the material but I haven't heard of a big push to change the existing over. It's all about the cash.
Those bastards.

FYI;
I got rid of the PVC lined tent and for the last 2 weeks the new tent without PVC lining and none of the same effects. Even the odor in the room is different. As to whether this is a fluke or not, I really don't give a damn. One less polluting thing in my immediate environment. PVC: The Poison Plastic
