despite the fact I use a sulpher burner daily plus Defender bi-weekly, I'm still having rust show up and destroy my plants. I grow purple kush in dirt.
this rust shows up as soon as the clones go into my grow room. |

rust
yea, i've had experts identify it, but nobody else i know has had this problem which has been going on for 2 yrs now. My man at the hydroponics store said that he has a number of clients experiencing rust problems and so far nobody has a handle on it. Purple Kush is the best medicinal weed i've ever grown or smoked and i've grown and smoked them all, so I.m reluctant to change strains again. Thanks

rust
i gow in dirt so hydreponics doesn't apply. The only nutrients that i use that contains iron is PYROClae which is less than 5 0/0 dil.and besides i use it moderatly because i like to stay organic as possible. Thank you for your interest.

Rust
I recently switched to soil and got rust too. I read calcium could be the problem and tried some water that had soaked in dolomitic lime but that didn't seem to have an effect. I thought I had a pretty comprehensive nutrient content but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, I think we can rule out rust
What are you using for calcium et al?

Looks like rust to me. Or are you talking about real rust?!
I had a bag of dolomite I was using to weigh down a BB hoop get rained on and form a dark brown puddle. It filled a gallon jug about 1/4 and I added water because I didn't want to over do it. Nothing changed. I also use superthrive, fulvic acid, mycorrhizae, and Floralicious plus. My non-soil is 2/3 medium quality + 1/3 Ocean Forest with polymers, coco-peat, and perlite added(foxfarm). I switched to all ocean forest--as dirt--later (those 6 are under a foot so I don't know how much that will help, yet). Should I try so thrivealive or is that just overlap? I'm new to soil--changing those DWCs every 2 weeks was making discretion difficult.

I would think adding all of the things you have added you have most likely created a toxicity which has locked something out. Unless you have added all of those things over the long term? From what I can tell your best bet is check your Ph and feed them just water for a little while and see what they do. |

It was longterm. I am usually careful to avoid the "more good stuff is better" trap. I guess I should make sure the pH is okay though everything is pretty balanced when I add it. I didn't adfd wuch lime, though. It was a quart of dolomite, water diluted to make a gallon, and then added to 11 five gallon buckets. Maybe I need more of it? I never needed to fortify calcium, separately, with hydro.

Usually you would use 1/2 - 1 cup per 5 gallon.
A good hydro nute supplies everything you need. Since you are using unsoil or a soiless recipe you could just go back to your hydro nutes. |

I forgot to mention I also use the 6 part organic fertilizer system by Foxfarm. I still don't think I've overdone it though because it says to use every other time in addition to up to 100% Ocean forest "dirt" and I 've kept it to that and my other supplements were used sparingly--they were mainly to cover the spectrum not for egular feeding.

rusty plants
hey thanx for your pics. looks exactly like my problem. i'd send you pics of my own but i'm basically dumb when it comes to tech stuff. anyway we got rust however my research tells me the cause is somewhow airborne fungal spores that attack and kill. It,s leathal and can't be controlled. i've used the same med. and food for years and never had a problem since changing site on the same property. thanx again Dave
