I mean I looked up the definition and it seemed to say it`s AA or aa but what does that mean and is it relevant to phenotype?

diploidy - The chromosomal constitution of somatic cells, in which each type of chromosome is represented twice.
phenotype - The physical appearance or biochemical characteristic of an organism as a result of the interaction of its genotype and the environment. yes it is relevant |

yes this is gergor mendel type stuff. the chromosomes from mom and the ones from dad will give the genotype, and how the genotype is expressed in the environment, or you could say as a result of the environment or in reaction to it - thats what make the phenotype
if you look up punnett squares it will all become clear(er), al least as a way of thinking about how pairs of genes can express thenselves

steady comrade, the revolution is bigger and more noble than petty revenge against such as these

I guess my specific question is does the site/timing/phenotype of the cutting site have any bearing on the genotype of the cutting? But I`m not sure that is the right question .

i dont know. my guess is that it doesnt, or shouldnt, or not enough of a difference worth worrying about.

diploidy represents genetic make-up, it is useful because it means we can be certain which traits will be passed on by one parent, this is most useful for expressing recessive genetics.
i'm not sure what you are actually asking tho, cutting? timing?, ?, sorry i cant help much.

the more i think about it the more sure i am that the place or timing of the cutting will make no difference. all cells have the same dna , genotype doesnt change.

Not a very good question on my part in the first place.
Veda- ta, `tis good to know. Cerebro- so as I understand it some cannabis cells (the gametes- pollen and ovules) are haploid which means they have just one set of 10 chromosomes. Whereas the other diploid (unless they are polyploids ) ones have pairs, adding up to 20 chromosomes.I think I was assuming that diploidy meant the chromosome pairings were identical (homozygous).

Normally yes, as I understand it.
Unless they are polyploid. Polyploidy doesn`t normally occur in cannabis (according to Greg Green anyway), I think it is essentially a mutation where there is an extra chromosome (or chromosomes) in a homologous set (a homologous set is a set of chromosomes that occupy the same genetic loci). I think some people have postulated that polyploidy could result in exceptional cannabis traits like very high thc content and others have denied this. Edit- there`s a lot of jargon in genetics
