well, the piece i have that i was thinking of boiling is a straight glass pipe, about 3-4 inches long, w/ a carb on the right side. the reason i havent tried yet is 1m afraid that 1) the glass will crack/shatter from sudden heat and 2) there are little glass "decorations" all over the bowl, like little smooth glass bumps and the carb blends in with the bumps, and i dont want to harm them.
maybe warm up the piece under hot tap, then introduce into boiling water with epsom? i dunno. i dont want to fuck my shit up. oh yeah, im trying to get these to "brand new" clean, not just average clean. i know the glass changes color because glass itself is an etremely slow moving liquid and it absorbs the color of the smoke, so boiling to me seems like a sure-fire way of removing resin, as long as it doesnt crack/break the pipe.

Looks good. I always use uncooked rice as opposed to salt, maybe I'll have to give the salt a try sometime. Time for a bong bowl, prophet man?

x2. Only i've never added salt into the mix. It's always been just little bit of water and some rubbing alcohol and then some shakin'.
![]() rice sounds like an excellent idea AL.

I rinse it thoroughly after using the alcohol...any residual amount would undoubtedly evaporate in no time. I don't think there's much to worry about, unless using some acrylic plastics.

using solvents & salt though.. i would never leave the job unfinished like the OP..
salty eth/propanol + bongwater.... delicious to think about as you're taking those first "clean" hits. final note on cheap drugstore alcohols, rubbing (basically ethanol) is less toxic for hu·mons than isopropyl, and iso gets reeeeally smelly when you add sodium chloride to it cause it separate into more pure isopropanol. they both work a charm for just $1 total, but stick with rubbing alcohol ftw,
