Try Stan's Donuts in Westwood across from two of the few remaining single screen old school movie palaces.

Chinatown and Little Tokyo downtown are a lot of fun the first time, especially if you like food. If you enjoy shopping then you should checkout Santee Alley, also downtown, for pretty much everything under the sun, but mostly clothes and knockoff electronics.

You've experienced our heat wave already, it should be cooler this week, a trip to the Getty during the week and it won't be as crowded. The Getty Villa up in Malibu is also quite nice, and if you don't go to Malibu at all, something's wrong with you.

Also, you should try to get to Newport or Hermosa Beach at some point.

beats the shit out of the suburbs of chicago thats for sure

but for real, next time i go to cali i would like it to be norcal. never experienced it and everyone says its much better. l.a. feels sort of like miami to me, and i really dont like that area to be honest. too many fake people. seems to be that way here in l.a. too, but at least these people have personality as opposed to the people in the burbs.
