sweet smelling shit????

im perplexed as to whether im dealing with scent recognition or what the deal is. a while back i bought some car air fresheners, ya know the pine trees. I bought pear scented for a change. They had an instant sweet fakeish pear smell not to bad. but as Im driving I keep on picking up whiffs of bad ass, like that kid in school that must not have been concerned with wiping his ass. it made me remember this kids house that i used to hang out in and there would always be a funky smell. they had a nasty dog and that kid probably didnt wipe his ass great. but the pear smell also related to the house, not just the hints of ass. i just remember the house always having a strong air freshener yet still something stinky lingered. i chucked the air freshener and that was that. fast foward to now when i recently bought a pack of orbitz new "positively pomegranate" gum. Ive been sitting here at my computer smelling this pack of gum which is next to me, not like sniffing at it, but the fruity smell is really strong no need to pick it up to smell it, however it too has some hints of bad ass????? MY ASS IS CLEAN I KNOW THIS. no need to speculate thats the cause. It is certainly coming from the gum. So im just fucking confused thats all. I guess the only purpose of sharing this is to wonder if anyone else has experienced this nasal mindfuck? Is it all scent recognition due to hanging out in a house with a stank dog and a lazy kid with fruity air fresheners? Or does certain highly artificial fruit flavors have undertones of ass?

Do you smoke cigarettes? that's happened to me before after smelling the smoke off a burning cigarette. Only lasted like two hours though.

Like that Axe bodyspray smell? just pure chemicals

no cigs for about 1.5 weeks going strong so far. but i havent gotten the ass smell from them before, it seems to be only with overly sweet smells. yikes on the axe bodyspray shit is rough. but yeah come to think of it great call on it bc i can remember smelling it on guys wearing it that i wondered if they were covering their ass smell. yup gotta be some certain chemicals. maybe just my nose though. good call smaerd!

amazing how the brain works, huh? As far as I can tell, you associate the smell of "ass" with the ass+fruityness of that kid's house. You remember it vividly, and was probably the first time you thought "damn, I can smell ass in here!"

Now, when you smell a specific kind of fruityness (hold the puns, please), you don't think you're smelling the fruit, you think you're smelling ass.

In a way, it's why the smell of funky feet can be a turnon for people. They associate that smell with other emotions...yours is just a sensory association.

funny and wise!! it does make sense. and the axe thing probably relates to him wearing super heavy cheap cologne to but he would still have his "house scent" on him. damn these fucks mustve just thrown bags of shit in a closet somewhere. thanks man! since my thanks button is missing???

i just the other day enjoyed one of my other sensory associations that i know the connection. the first time i smoked bud was in my boys car and he had a royal pine air freshener in his car. every now and then i buy that scent and the smell def brings back all sorts of memories, really is kind of weird but i dig it.
