I don't know what to make of this. The story mentions evidence which seems to point to foul play (i.e. broken neck bones but nothing he could have strangled himself with). If the investigation concludes that officers did indeed have some role in the suspect's death I think we can pretty much throw dex's thread about U.S. cops out the window.

^I would be careful to jump to conclusions on this case though. His body had no signs of trauma other than the broken bones in his neck which doesn't make much sense if he was straight up strangled by someone else. It's possible they could have poisoned his food and then broken his neck to make it look like suicide though.

Either way, it's really sad because racial tensions are already high in the county in which it happened and this is only going to make things worse between white cops and black citizens.

Killing anybody is equally reprehensible, regardless of status. Murder a beggar--you're an asshole too.

On the same note, police brutality is far worse than civilian brutality. Cops have an unfair legal and network advantage over everybody else. In the general area of where I live (DC-MD-Northern VA) young people (usually minorities) have been murdered/beat by cops for offenses as minor as stealing a rusty bicycle. It's no joke or exaggeration.

While it is true that murder is wrong regardless, after there are so many people being shot to death by the police in your city, one begins to not care quite as much when cops get killed. I feel for the cop's family. But I'm sorry I don't give a fuck about a dead cop. They are given a license to kill so when someone shoots back at them kills a cop, I guess you could say that just comes with the territory. Hazard of the trade.

The most recent police shooting in my city involved a guy who ran from the cops and got into a big chase, they shot him dead when he got out of the car. Turns out he wasn't even the right guy. They were looking for a robbery suspect, and they found him AFTER they shot this guy thinking it was him. He ran from the cops because he was in a stolen car. Should he have been murdered for it? I don't think so. It's bad enough when they kill people based off of racial prejudice..then they start killing people indiscriminately. I'm sorry but if that cop gets killed in the "line of duty", I don't feel at all sorry for him. He took someone else's father/brother/son. I don't wish death on anyone, but I sure as hell am not going to shed a tear over a murderer, I don't care if it's a cop or like Sars said, a beggar.

I think Ice T put it the best when he said something to the effect of "I ain't gonna let you kill me. If you wanna kill me, you gotta earn the right to kill me." And that goes for men, women, children, police, government, muslims, jews, christians, black, white, yellow, everyone.

just lift ,tilt ,and twist ,it's really that easy if you know what you're doing.

The procedure causes a classic "hangman's fracture" — a break between the head and the neck, effectively snapping the upper cervical spine. In most cases, the victim dies of asphyxiation.
