This is a combination of my slight skills in Spanish and Babelfish, but that's what I got out of it. The only word neither I nor babelfish seems to get is algundia. Nevermind, figured it out. Algun is some, dia is day.

No problem. The problem I had with me translating it and babelfish's help was the same thing.

Ayudapara as one word doesn't make sense. Ayuda is help and para mi is for me. Same with algundia. I'm sure she's doing it correctly though. I can make my way through a reasonable conversation in Spanish, but I'm by no means completely fluent.

I guess she was trying to sound as plain as possible since told her that I don't speak any Spanish at all and that I have to run her messages through a translator anyway.
Funny was when she said she doesn't speak English at all.

Tu información me ayudó.
Espero que algún día puedo ayudarte!!.

Which means:

Your information helped me.

She's third generation Argentinean so I guess that's native enough, but when you read some posts on this forum you could think English is their third language...

I'm second generation Russian (my mom's from Belarus) but I hardly understand any Russian, and I'm of course completely illiterate in it. Spanish on the other hand is a IS my second language. At work everyone speaks English almost all the time, but almost everything must write at work is in Spanish. I am not a native speaker of Spanish, yet I am the Spanish translator (NOT the Spanish interpreter) for my organization.

I am often teased about my pronunciation by the native speakers I work with, but never about my Spanish grammar and spelling.

Language is a funny thing.

True.

After only 2 years in Germany I managed to be the best in class in dictation writing among all native Germans in the class, but only after 5 years was I able to speak fluently and with no foreign accent at all.

English pronunciation is much more difficult IMO but the grammar is easy as can be.

And of course, the older you get the harder it is to learn a foreign language.
