Dipshits will panic, and others will benefit by it.

I predict that the dollar will take a deep, fast plunge in value. Slowly wages will catch up with prices, but until then, there will be much suffering.

When the dust settles these will be the good ole' days.

So how fast would you expect wages to balance? I mean how would they "catch up."

Catch up the the falling dollar? To my knowledge, it's people spending money that they don't have. So all these greedy bankers get money from people who don't have money. I mean, shouldn't there be people in jail for what happened? There's some people out there that could be held responsible for, right? How would it even be possible to recover from the dollar falling way low?

Mr. Tree,

Padon me for being uneducated, but why would the Euro falling have anything to do with the dollar?

I've heard there's places in Europe with gas $7 a qrt. Isn't that outrageous? I mean how is that possible? How are they dealing with that?
Antediluvian,

Nothing against you, but who ever I ever meet that says,"Who cares." On a regular basis, their attitude is very striking to me. It's something I think a lot of people look down on, I mean when people say "Who Cares" about something of semi-importance, it kinda tells something about some one. That's just me though.

One thing you can always count on from the news media: when something bad happens, oh my fucking God, it's the worst thing that could EVER happen. I have to laugh when I see headlines like "Dow PLUNGES 75 points!!!!" They always use words like that. It never drops, it plunges. It's never bad, it's a disaster. Shit, the unemployment rate goes up to 5 or 6 percent and you see "Great Depression II" and shit. During the Great Depression, the jobless rate was around 25%.

The upside is, while everyone else is running around in hysterical panic, you can remain calm and pick up loose change off the sidewalk.

Does anyone think this may be another orchastrated chaos? if Zeitgeist was right and the great depression was a set up by the elite in order to shift power and change policy, then isn't it likely that is what is happening now, again? I would highly doubt that if previous depressions were planned that this one would be different or "natural".

gas has been expensive in europe for a long time... people manage by depending less on fossil fuels and by having more fuel efficient vehicles. their fuel is expensive yet the euro has been rapidly gaining in value vs the american dollar (indicating a growing strength of european union economy), yet in america everyone is panicking and higher fuel costs cause massive problems. many Europeans grow their own food and live much more local and sustainable and less wasteful lifestyles whereas americans drive SUVs all over the place and are extremely wasteful without giving two shits. public transport is much more popular and efficient in europe and many people ride bikes as a source of leisure AND as practical transport. i know from first hand experience that italy in particular have many roads dedicated or friendly to bikers and even in big cities bikers have the right of way and thus many people use bikes.

the entire american system is addicted to oil and for too long we had filthy rich barons fucking with our politics and fucking with middle eastern politics and waging war so they can become richer.

things will hopefully change at some point, not having mccain win the election would be a step in the right direction though

lol, you got me there.

But do you have any idea how many people probably do care(a lot)?

I see what you are saying the Media magnifies drama 10 times. But my parents are very, educated people and they know what's happening but don't take the time to explain things to me.

It's really weird, and confusing, my parents know the worlds not ending, but the way my mom has been saying it to me is...

The US's standard of living is going to go down a lot for awhile and they also question how long it will take.

it IS very serious... IF you care.

im invested in the stock market so i get fucked when this shit happens, really bad, and its probably not going to rebound for a while if it ever does if things continue how they have been.

i can understand if people dont care if they dont follow the news and understand the implications of such an event.

millions of regular people right now are losing money out of their life savings because the entire stock market is taking a hit and has been hurting for the past year if not longer. these people invested their life earnings in the strength of our country and they are actually losing their life savings because companies that have been in business for OVER A HUNDRED YEARS are going bankrupt because of how fucked our economy is right now.

lehmen brothers made it through the great depression and both world wars and now in 2008 they are going bankrupt... its a pretty big deal.

You guys do realize those companies only went down because of clintons equal mortgage laws/speculations, and they were in the realistate bizz, right? 6 billion in loans didn't get their ends met, right? Does that really fuck our whole country?

thousands if not millions of people are getting foreclosed out of their homes and the value of the dollar is steadily decreasing value while simultaneously the cost of just about everything is rising significantly. this has been happening for the past year as i started following the stock market and i have stopped watching because every day its just more depressing news. are we royally fucked as a country, no, its just that many people are losing their jobs and their life savings and our country just continues the trend that has been happening for a few years and we are getting weaker and weaker.

under clinton there was a huge surplus and the economy was booming. im not gonna that 9/11 didnt play a role in the collapse, but i still have no trouble believing george bush has horribly mismanaged the country and its priorities

well what I was saying is clinton made laws to give everyone an equal chance at a mortgage or something I thought, and because of that a bunch of hood people got homes couldn't hold them so now their getting them taken away and the company is hurting from the loans. I am probably wrong but that's what I heard. Trust me I am pro bill clinton, he didn't inhale got the tastey beeg, got us money, etc, etc.

Either way I'm not gonna die, I'll just grow some food and live better then I was before haha.
