It's all about criteria.
For me, the ideal country would be an island.
An island in the tropics, with good skiing, Scandinavian women who dont shave much, with great beaches, year round uncrowded surf etc. No political unrest, good family focused government.
So basically; a mix of Figi, and Sweden.

distinguishing between States (governments) and countries (actual territories)...I would stick with the US if only because it just encompasses so much diversity in terms of geography. you could have almost any vacation you want and still remain within US jurisdiction. Now as for governments, well, most don't pass the smell test, although Canada and Sweden have some nice features...
