Vegetarian Festival

Well.. it's that time of year again on Phuket.. the vegi festival.. ten days of festivities! Lots of vegi food that tastes like ass.. cheap ass fireworks.. skewered cheeks.. hot oil.. and fire walking. Here are some of the photos. Btw is anyone going..? heh

Yeah wtf I wasn't expecting to see a vegetarian festival to be so gross. Definetly don't want to attend.

The vegetarian part is just one aspect of the festival..

Certain people will invoke the spirits within them and then pierce their body to show the power of spirits or something like that.

There are some interesting rules..

1. Cleanliness of bodies during the festival
2. Clean kitchen utensils and to use them seperately from other who do not join the festival
3. Wear white during the festival
4. Behave physically and mentally
5. No meat eating
6. No sex
7. No alcoholic drinks
8. People at mourning period should not attend the festival
9. Pragnant ladies should not watch any ritual
10. Ladies with period should not attend the ritual

I made my own rules up though.. as usual..

1. Get high...
2. Eat hallucinogen...
3. Watch parades...
4. Buy cheap chinese fireworks and get involved in comical street warfare..
5. Have lots of sex..

The best bit is the fireworks and bangers all over the place.. you get showered in them when you walk in the parade.. hence my feet above.

The food I guess isn't that bad.. just a bit dry and bland.. and tofu and others like it don't taste good to me. The curries are great though.
