Well...I had quite the weekend. I had to say overall it was quite a bit of fun, but I had to hold my tounge several times to avoid causing drama.

A friend of mine has been seeing this girl who for some reason lives in the ghetto but drives a bmw, knows rich people etc. I have a feeling she has hidden motives, but that's another story.
This saturday we went to the Dia De Los Muertos celebration at Hollywood forever cemetary. She knows the owner who let us in ahead of everyone else, gave us a bottle of El Jimador and let us come to the after party.
I would say that's the advantage of the Hollywood elite...The next day was a little different.

Sunday (yesterday) we went to Palos Verdes to pick up funding from some lady for the premiere of one of this girl's short films. The girl offered to take us out to lunch but wanted to go to a "nice seafood restaraunt with a view"...So we went to one.
The Lady who was providing the funding went with us and kept saying shit like "I only go to very expensive restaraunts, but I am not rich, I live in condo" (I tried to capture her Brazilian+French accent).
She kept talking about how she helped film Hidalgo and a bunch of other movies I never cared about seeing.

So after this we go to some lady's art gallery in Inglewood for the showing of her new "collection".
It was basically about 15 snobby hipsters and the rich lady who owned the gallery sitting around drinking absinthe and smoking camel crush cigarettes, talking about little "inside" things and laughing in the most full of shit way I have ever heard...Imagine Perez Hilton trying to impersonate Fran Drescher, and that's close.

Then she gave this little speech about how the project is called "Let 1000 flowers bloom" based on a line in some poem that Mao Zedong was into. She said it was based on the fact that Mao Zedong started off really cool, but wound up killing everyone...Which kind of pissed me off, because Mao Zedong is like the one revolutionary icon besides Che Guevara that rich people (who have no idea what theyre talking about) seem to cling onto to be hip....Obviously Mao Zedong was bad, even for a communist dictator.

The art pieces were really uninspired piles of dogshit. Photo-painitngs of communist soldiers in front of the hollywood sign etc.

Those people are everything that's wrong with art and culture. They suck up little bits and pieces of the real world and try to pretend like it's an actual reality. They sit around making pretensious art pieces with political and social imagery but don't even have any clue what's really happening in society or politics.
They hide up in there Los Feliz blvd condos and sneak down into the ghetto once a month to "live the artist life".

This weekend really renewed my belief that money is the root of most evil, and am now much more content being a broke ass. Even if Im lame, I'll never be as lame as those people.

Well the cost of living in places like that. Even in Chicago it's ridiculous. NY, Miami, LA, Dallas... the rest of the country is scratching their heads saying "500,000 dollars gets you WHAT?". A small house, a bmw and weekend trips to the clubs. In Oregon $500,000 will buy you pretty much your dreams.

You can be cool and rich if you start out poor and then become rich. But people that are born rich are sheltered from the real world. The lady we went to lunch with lived in Palos Verdes which is like a rich neighborhood right between the beach and the ghetto...Its amazing that a mile away people are slanging crack and killing their peers.

I'm judging individuals and making a semi-broad generalization...As in "I've never come across rich people that were born rich that retain their cool factor".

Eat a dick terry. Met some rich people who do "art" on the side as a hobby. I just said that these types of people are whats wrong with art...Doing art to be cool, doing art to make money etc.
