MY dog just had babies and im pretty happy. Ive never taken care of a newborn pup before so does anyone have tips?

Mama dog will pretty much take care of everything. Make sure she's warm, has water and food near by....but really, she can totally care for and take care of those puppies all by herself. Keep other animals...dogs...etc ...away from her....let her be pretty much.

Make sure the dogs get all of the appropriate shots, and make sure they stay with their mum for at least 8 weeks. Keep their living area clean so they are healthy, and don't feed them shitty dog food.

Just watch to be sure the mom's taking proper care of them. If they cry a whole lot, it generally means they are either cold or hungry. You could set up a cardboard box with a towel in the bottom. Underneath the box (not under the towel) place a heating pad on one side. This enables the puppies to regulate their own heat (i.e. move onto it if they are cold, and off when the get hot).

As far as mom goes, you may want to switch her onto a special food diet for nursing dogs. May sure she’s comfortable and as least stressed out as possible. She may move the puppies into another room (or area if she’s outside) if she feels threatened or stressed, so be prepared for that.

They wont beable to get thier first shots until they are at least 6 weeks old. At that time your vet will be able to get them thier first puppy shots (a distemper/parvo combination shot). Where I work, we ask that you bring the puppies in every 3 weeks from that point on to get them the appropriate shots (this will last until they are 12 weeks old). You may want to bring them in for a check up earlier than that time for a check up.

puppies are awesome, just like everyone else said the mother will most likely take care of all of them, but sometimes they will neglect a certain or pup or two. just keep checking to see that they are all in good health and that shes taking good care of them.

how big was the litter and what breed are they?
