its been planted at least year ago, and its up to eight leaves right now, leaves on the bottom dry up and fall off once in a while, but the new leaves grow faster than they fall off. my guess is that this is how the stem becomes longer and thicker.

tree that grew too tall for its container. my mom was gonna throw it out, but i decided to chop the top off and put the thing in water. i figure i'll keep it in water till it starts popping out some roots, then stick it a pot with soil, water it etc.
