i most often don't use a mouse(laptop), but when i do (i am now) i just use it on my desk

My friend used to have one that was an ass. But yea, none for me now.

Get this, a friend of mine starts working at an internet cafe. The tables they have are this weird metallic surface, and the laser mice don't work.

yeah the laser mice are pretty picky about what type of surface you use them on. if i was trying to use a mouse on my other desk i'd be using a mousepad

Especially for gaming, I don't like to use just the desktop.

Not to mention the precious wood I might scratch up.

usually just like a piece of paper or a book or a manual or something. it's 2008 now, so most of if not all of the mices i use are optical.

yes I just use a folder or a book wrapped in a piece of paper. I have to use one because without one the laser mouse reads the wood grains and the pointer goes all over the place. I take notes on the paper and change it when it's full. Wow that sounds uninteresting why did you care about that?

desktop mouse pad is over 10 years old. dogs playing poker with a optical mouse on it and on my lap top i use the touch pad mostly but it has to be turned up to max sensitivity. i wish the sensitivity would go higher.
