He made a huge impact on many of us too, although he was only here for a while.

matt was a guy who had a love/appreciation of life that most of us can only dream about. he taught me a lot of things, probably without realizing it, and will be sorely missed until the day i die.

I had to give you all 'thanks', as I felt the same way. He's the only member of a forum that I talked to on the phone. Texted each other daily & was planning my trip to LV, NV when he passed away.
He was a free spirit with a good soul who liked to get high. I miss him daily...& think about what a blast we would've had.
I think I mentioned that I saw his dad perform a '2nd card deal' on 1 of the TV shows on Las Vegas card sharks.

I did not like him and will not lie due to his death...But I do think he now has the peace he was searching for...I will admit that he was probably a much better person than i can or will ever be and seeing how much people cared makes me smile for the community, since we usually get such a bad rap...

Don't quote me on this, no pun, I think he was really sick with cancer, I don't know if it was his call or cancers when he went.

Because the older you get, the more and more people that you know die from cancer, that's the way I feel.

i don't think matt had cancer but he was sick. an accident involving severe brain trauma -- which really should have killed him (he was left for dead on the side of a street or in an alley) -- disabled him and left him in a lot of pain. he lived with it for years. i know he was having trouble with his living arrangements. . . i didn't talk to him the last couple weeks before he died and i suppose it's because he had left the assisted living facility and couldn't get online. the owner of the place was really bothering him, i don't know if it had to do with money or what but he was found in a motel 6 without his laptop and some other items he was supposed to have had with him.

he seemed like he'd gone through the motions and overcome depression, always telling me that his accident gave him an appreciation for life he had never felt before. but i do know his pain was severe and he took a lot of things very hard (including some of his experiences here but i feel like i helped him understand it's not to be taken so personally).

sorry guys i'm just rambling. matt was the first friend i ever lost and damn i miss him

It's amazing how you can be connected with a total stranger from the internet. Verk and Matt talked often online from what I understand and he was truly hurt when Matt died. I never got to know him but I wish I had.

RIP Matt.
