Smoking pot causes as much damage as tobacco: Study

Sad to see something like this posted in a respected newspaper like The Province (one of Vancouver's leading newspapers).

I dunno what to believe, whichever it's true or it's not true, I'm still gonna smoke pot.

just want to point this out:

Quote:
Neither marijuana nor the main psychoactive component of the plant, THC, has been shown to cause cancer.

There are, however, substances in marijuana that can be very harmful to a person, according to previous studies on the drug.
by their own account here, vaping and eating cannabis negates this. and personally, ive always been of the mindstate that inhaling any plant matter is not the best, health wise. i don't know about the dna damage though. sounds like a scare tactic to me. ppl who went through the hippie days would've had mutant babies if this was true.

smoking anything regularly cannot be very healthy for you.
the whole cancer thing is pretty academic, it seems that some peolpe are prone to it and others aren't whether they smoke or not.

if a person exercises regularly and smokes one joint a day, then the negative effects to the health are minimul.
if you smoke dope all day and don't do any form of exercise then it will fuck up your health.

The human lung was primarily designed to inhale air and transfer oxygen into the blood stream
the moment that you start inhaling any form of burning plant matter you are effecting the lungs.

people develope all sorts of health problems just from breathing polluted air.

smoking weed or hash or tabaco or legal buds or tea or sage etc is not good for the respiratory system, the more you do it the worse it will be.

look at what is generally accepted about pot these days-

that it MIGHT be as dangerous as smoking or drinking....

that the potential is there for it to do some possible damange...

compare that to what passed for gospel like 10 years or 20 years ago - we've gone from reefer madness to a huge war on drugs to more or less accepted pot use and quasi legalization in most states except the deep south republican reactionary areas stronghold. (this comming from a moderate republican),

its known that it is a better way to relax then alcohol or cigarettes- known from experience by huge swaths of each generation currently living...including Bill Clinton George Bush and Barack Obama.

so i predict we're almost there, look how far we've come.

"cannabis- the healthier alternative to cigarettes or alcohol"

not only that, but everything you eat causes changes in your DNA. Sugar alters DNA up to two weeks, so pretty much everyones DNA is constantly changing.

How they classify it as damage is what really pisses me off.

It changes it, it doesn't damage it. There's no way to tell if the changes are good or bad until you actually have kids, mostly because genetic defects can be good too!

Here's the definition of "damage."

Quote:
1dam·age Listen to the pronunciation of 1damage
Pronunciation:
\ˈda-mij\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle English, from Anglo-French, from dan damage, from Latin damnum
Date:
14th century

1: loss or harm resulting from injury to person, property, or reputation
2plural : compensation in money imposed by law for loss or injury
3: expense, cost <“What's the damage?” he asked the waiter>

so how do they know the DNA changes are actually harmful?

I bet you could smoke a vap every day all day for your whole life, and injest weed every day for your whole life, and youd be physically capable of everything.

And then compare to someone who drinks, smokes cigaretts, and eats fastfood every day for their whole life.

It just doesnt make sense
