My Tribute to the Gov - Ken Gorman

While I never had the chance to meet Ken personally I did have a few conversations over the telephone with him. One of the immediate things that caught my attention while listening to his deep bellow voice was that he was a very pragmatic person. Pragmatic in the sense that he was able to see through all the governmental smokescreens concerning marijuana and the drug war. You could sense that he was a different kind of person in the way that he articulated himself.

What made Ken stand out was that he was a man on a mission. He consciously dedicated his personal life to his patients and in educating the community about the virtues of marijuana as a medicine and fallacy of the War on Drugs. In essence he was model to be followed. Now that Ken is no longer with us hopefully there will be others that take on the mission. In my own little way I try to help against the war. It always brings me great joy when I can graciously help a medical marijuana patient pass their drug test. I am told they can legally take pharmaceutical pain medications, but they are unable to properly function normally to do a job. However, with medical marijuana they able function with dignity and become a productive member of society, but unfortunately the federal government doesn't recognize medical marijuana as a medicine so they need help to pass a drug test.

Then there is the fascinating story of a 71 old grandmother who is under cancer treatment, and her grand daughter educates her about medical marijuana. The grand daughter gives her grandmother her first joint and she is amazed at the benefits. The grandmother wants to get back in the work force again but she needs our help to pass her pre-employment test. These are the different types of messages that Ken dedicated his whole life too and hopefully they will inspire us.

Ken was a man ahead of his time, but he will never be forgotten.

Bless Mr. Gormon, he did everything he could. I salute this man. One day I'll drop a "flower" on his grave-site.
