Sports Hernia-Anyone Ever Had it?
Okay--trying to make a long story short
Last August I injured my hamstring/groin area simply from standing up after sitting in one position for 2 hours...I got up and felt a belt of fire there...went to PT, rehabbed it and it seemed to go away Fast forward to a month ago, and after doing a light (very light) workout at the gym, the same area hurts, only worse. After trying to manage, I go to the doc and they refer me back to PT--go see the phys. therapist, and she says whatever is wrong is really bad and she thinks it is a Sports Hernia--I went to an Orthopedics guy today and he confirmed it and said i will need intense rehab and possibly surgery. Has anyone else had experience with this injury? If so, what am I really in for here?

How is your condition now? Do have any bulging in the groin area? If so, it might be an inguinal hernia. See a doctor who specializes in correcting inguinal hernias.
They do it laparascopically these days so it's nowhere near as invasive as hernia surgery used to be and recovery times are dramatically improved. And even if it is only one side of your groin that is seemingly affected, don't be surprised if the doc recommends doing both sides. That way, you're minimizing the chances of ever returning again. |
