Every since I was a kid, I have struggled with weight loss. Just like some other people's posts, I'm always a good 20 lbs above where I'd like to be, and since I have been out of work for the past five months, it's just gotten worse. I smoke all the time and while I have almost no appetite during the day, when I get blitzed at night I go nuts (I get baked during the day too
, but "really" smoke at night. May day is already about 1pm-3am, which is the main reason, and is unhealthy enough. Anyway, to the point.... when I get the munchies, I just can't stop eating. I eat dinner....then I want a snack, then another. I don't always eat horrible things....my biggest food favorite while high is cereal.....but anything eaten that late at night (or early in the morning ) is going to be bad. I desperately need to loose weight right now, but I think the munchies are killing me. Any advice on how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated. |

the munchies isnt that you get hungrier, you just dont get full. maybye sometimes u get bloated but are still able to stuff down a few more burrittos. try eating something BEFORE you get high. and also start getting some exercise, it sounds as if your a teen or 20 something, so you CAN lose weight. 20 pounds isnt THAT much to lose. just burn more calories than your taking in and you're sure to take some weight off. plus ull feel better. and work out like 3 times a week, not just once a month, that does shit all.
orrrrrrrrrr you can remain a fat ass. and contribute to the fact that north america is the most "nutritionally endowed" continent. it's your choice. |

eat ricecakes, plain popcorn, celery, ice, stuff liek that when you get the munchies. Plus if this helps, i read most people the recommened rate of weight loss is two pounds a week, and to do that all you ahve to do a day is leave out one large sized soda pop and jog for about ten minutes.

I too gained about 15lbs beyond my ordinary "computer guy" physique last year when the munchies started hitting me hard too. I've lost it all and then some once I started working out 2-3 times/week and tried to make sure that when I'd eat I'd mostly try to pick healthy low-cal foods (or eat beforehand).
If you're smoking alone, then I'd encourage you to invite a buddy over since it'll distract you from eating. One more thing, is that if you haven't already tried it - you might give the Atkins diet a try eat moderate amounts of fat/protein and almost no carbs and your body will start shedding the pounds. you know what you should do? well, eating before is a great option. another thing is eating something with protein.. while veggies and cereal are healthy and all, they dont really take your hunger away. you'll be hungry in a sec.
this is following the glycemic index. some things take your hunger away better. this is the explanation for fat america, i mean, there is no country with more info on the topic or more FAT FREE products. thing is, people are always hungry, so at a meal have something healthy like vegetables and also some protein let it be milk or whatever, so it takes your hunger awaay munchies are a problem for me too.. i've wolfed down lots of shit but it dont happen to often when i try to stop it luck to you |

Thanks for all the responses. Getting fed up with it, I figured I just needed to stop smoking for a bit. The problem is that I'm not working now and am always up very late at night. So i'd get really baked and eat all night then pass out. The last smoke I had was Sat. night, and I have to say, I'm really happy that I've stopped for these few days. I have eaten SOOO much less than I have in SOOO long. Obviously I don't plan to quite for good (why live?
), but I think I needed this jump start. And until I have a job, I may have to invoke a weekends and not at home only policy. I don't really like veggies that much (the reason I've struggled with weight in the first place), but really ANYTHING you eat late at night, short of very lean meat (or anything that's pure protein) is not good. But a note to anyone thinking of going on the Atkins diet, as someone here suggested. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT do it. I actually did it a few years back and it does work. But over the past few years MANY articles have come out about how bad it is for your body and liver. It's pretty much been thrown out as far as a good diet. BUT, that's not to say that you can do well shrinking your carbs down and eating lots of protein...but just pick low fat protein. Anyway, I can still drink and do anything else that doesn't cause me to eat. Right now I'm enjoying an awesome Darvocet high. Not as good as percocet (my fav!!!) but it's the same shit, just weaker. BTW, is there any black market for pills? and if so, how does one get them? |

couple of suggestions,
-Whenever you feel the muchies coming on drink alot of ice water, that will help with your cravings. -Also go places where u wont be tempted by food, take a walk, go to a club, or anything where food is not. You'll find you will think about it less. |

Try drinking more water, it'll fill you up. Keep carrots and single-serving applesauce handy for when you get the mad munchos, they're good for you and fill you up fast.
Try walking for about 45 minutes a few times a week, it'll help you burn more calories. The walking may also make you fall asleep faster, without smoking and munching before bed. |

try to eat your biggest meal of the day earlier and make your meals lighter as the day goes on, soda and carbs are terrible for you and especially right before bed, try to eat a little less every day even if your belly is making sounds just think about something else or eat something healthy for a change, take it a day at a time, go buy some slim fast or something, and everyone needs to have exercise, go to the YMCA, make friends with health and exercise freaks, self control and motivation is helpful, it really helps when you see the pounds coming off and your belly going down that makes me more motivated, do anything to make you sweat, personally biking is my favorite type of exercise especially when its really hot, but bring a water bottle, you will feel great after you get that exercise, another thing, after i get stoned and i eat i usually lose my high, and when im starving i tend to get really baked, i hope this was of help, good luck with the dieting thing, don't go to the supermarket!!!!!!

Just a few ideas...
Get a physical hobby such as bike riding. Buy a mountainbike or something. Personally, I'm a bmx rider and I ride my local skatepark as often as possible; any bmx rider will tell you that they take every opportunity to ride, simply because it's so much fun. i find it impossible to put on even a gram of weight because i'm always riding. Eat a lot of fruit and veg. Fruit and veg hardly contains any fat at all, and they taste damn good too (though taste is compromised by their freshness, and the way they're stored and cooked). Instead of going for the most obvious food when you've got munchies, try to go for low-fat low-carbohydrate stuff. Try to hange your habits. Watch less tv, use the computer less, go out for walks etc. instead of doing things that require little energy, do things that require somewhat greater physical exertion than watching tv. i hope this has been helpful
