this is my first real grow... any comments would be greatly appreciated!
got some NL, and Caramel, and a couple are some mystery freebie seeds that came with the order... just set the timer to 12/12 from 24 on. they've been going about 3 weeks from seed, and I'm absolutely stunned at the rate of growth of a couple of these babies... no signs of showing genetalia yet... how do they look to you? I'm hopeful ![]() If I get only one good female from all of these, I'd be thrilled... all I want is a head stash for myself. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by newbiegreengrow; 09-10-2007 at 03:56 PM. |

I'm now thinking of going back to 24 hour light... maybe right after sexing them out.... and doing some stress-training like tokin's behemoth trainwreck... that thing's a BEAST! what do ya'll think? |

oh... I lifted the light hood to take the photos....
I made a hood out of a wooden frame, and sheetrock, covered in foil, and it's raised and lowered by chains and hooks. sounds heavy, but really not... the hood measures roughly 4 feet square, and houses 1 four hundred watt metal halide in the center, and two 250 watt High pressure sodiums on each end. I rotate the plants every time I water them (2-3 days) so they get the same quality light. I figured I'd use both to give a fuller spectrum of light. I normally keep the lights about 18-24 inches off the plant tops. |

I love the set up. Your plants look great, nice and compact. I've heard its good to stay away from aluminum foil to avoid "hot spots". I went the mylar route and it seems to work well, although it was a pain putting it up. After this roll of mylar is used up I will probably switch to using flat white paint from now on. I would let them get a bit taller before flowering, depending on the height of your grow box, but other than that keep it up.

![]() I heard that about the foil, too... I might try something else next time around. I have the flat white paint, but no gumption to put it on ![]() maybe this weekend. Also, I'm using metal halide and HPS together at the same time... Is this OK? |

I could be wrong, but all logic tells me it is O.K. I mean, the closer you get to replicating the natural sunlight spectrum, the better off you are. Not to mention you're plants look great, so I would keep them both for sure.

Two different lights are fine. Try lowering them a few inches more for maximum "Lumen" penetration. Watch for burnt tips from heat. Have the fan blowing across the tops. Flat white reflects about 80 per cent of the usable light back. You're going to want that light energy when they get bigger.

it's so beautiful.
I wish I could grow like that. I wish I could be there to smoke the end product with you! ![]()
