Hey, no prob. seems like everyone has questions on LED"S thats why I started it. Right now I'm having to worry about my plants being healthy. I'm kinda nervous to just throw em under there and take care of them. I suspect these lights will be good for flowering. As far as pics go, just check in on mondays. thats when I decided to make pic day. That way you guys can actually see the progress instead of watching day by day.

aren't LED lights the safest way to go as far as safety towards fire hazards? Because i've heard some things about HID lighting that kind of makes me nervous just for the fact that i'm kinda growing in a closet space.

Fluro's are probably the safest.

No cerebro...... LED"S are considered the safest lighting. Floros still present a fire hazard as well as glass hazard being so sensitive and all. LED's are in no way a hazard. Except if this experiment doesn't work then they are a hazard to plants. these anyways.

Oh the soil thing. yeah when I germinate the seeds I only put like a third of dirt in there for the seedling to take root into. As it sprouts and gets taller I add soil. I guess I do it to kind of limit the amount of stretching as well as promote a stronger as well as wider range of root growth.
That's an interesting technique. I've got some going with root nodes coming out about an inch above the soil, and I wish I had room to throw some more mix in. However I also noticed a dramatic difference between the five seeds I planted in two-cup pots and the eight I planted in one-cup pots. The 2-cuppers seemed to take off much more. (some pics in an earlier thread of mine) Not sure if it was soil depth (is there a tap root?), coincidence, or what. I think I will try your idea out. I definitely won't start out in small pots like last time, if I can avoid it.

Hope they're coming along.

BAH ! Make sure you have propper drainage with the pot. Thats a mistake I made and my plants still look only two weeks old. They have rebounded though they are making progress just slowly while they are recovering from root rot due to lack of drainage. They will be fine im sure it's just this thread is going to take a little while longer. I'll have some pics up for you guys later tonight but first A war buddy of mine is flying into today and I'm going to pick him up and we are gonna get HIGH HIGH!

In which case my hunch is giving seedlings a chance to dive deep is prudent. Initial depth plus room for more soil later--that's what I'll go with next time.

The more soil they`ve got the better. It`s just a matter of the practicalities- space, money etc. I`m not sure depth is the key so much as volume.

The rule of thumb is that the plants want approx equal room below the soil as they`re taking up above. The roots will tend to go down at first and then spread out sideways when they can go no further down.

When re-potting check if the roots have been growing round and round the base of the pot looking for more room. If they have, tease them out or even cut them otherwise the root growth will be retarded.

You can check the roots by lifting the plant out of the pot carefully (I turn the pot upside down and support the soil with my hand) and visually inspecting them. If the roots look as if they`re cramped up against the sides of the container it`s time to re-pot into a bigger one.

Yeah, my technique is not so much as a tap root promoter but more of a thicker denser root system. If you were to look at the plant from the side without the pot there should be nothing but roots from top to bottom. I just promoting a more dense system of roots. So roots all the way through the soil. not just downwards but outwards. trying for one solid brick of roots in a way I guess lol. By the way cam is broken waiting on a buddy of mine to bring his over. I have got to share this nug I got yesterday with all of you.

Alright guys lol sorry I'm late. It seems we are getting a little ancy lol. Anyways here are some pics, I pulled them out for the pics and I must say they have really repaired nicely. they sat outside for a week then i threw em back under the lights. The taller one is really taking off and the smaller one is making progress but slower. Fri I am going to repot them into bigger pots and hopefully we will see them take off. So far though they are doing well. By the way could any of you admins please remove SCROG from my title? I have changed my method to budcycles. Now a question on the difference in growth rates. I have heard a myth that says males grow faster than females. now I never really looked at it like this but could that be true. I mean I have grown before and have noticed males growing a tad faster. So I'm thinking maybe it could be true. I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet 5 yahookan bucks that the taller one is male and the smaller one is female. Any takers? You guys have been awsome and I really appreciate the support.
