Question Budget Indoor Growing

Obviously I'm brand spanking new to indoor growing, I have no idea whats going on with it except I need lights and some sort of exclosure, and exhaust.

What is the cheapest way to get a setup done? And how much would it run?

Thanks to the pros.

(4) 24" Bulbs 8,000 lumens
and I get (2) 3000K Bulbs (2) 6500K Bulbs

Flouro tubes? Flouro`s are probably the cheapest way to get going. HID lighting actually gives better efficiency in the long run.
How many watts is that?

People grow in cabinets so the space is light tight (light during the dark part of the light cycle will create problems) and so odour can be controlled.

What space have you got?

Have you considered stealth issues?

For the bulbs...
24" 6500K Grow Bulb 24W
24" 3000K Grow Bulb 24W

Im planning this on a closet, its pretty big, a walk-in. Should I build a cab, or just use the closet?

I live in a house with my sister, and she knows I smoke, but I know plants will RANK, so what about oder blockers?

You want a fan and carbon filter to be safe about smell. Also if you vent to outside the space it will help control temps- though with 4 x 24 watt tubes heat won`t be a massive issue.
Odour blockers may help, they won`t work 100% on their own.
The final solution to hiding dank smells is a carbon fan + filter and one of those ionizer things.

You can use the whole closet if you want, you don`t have to have to make a cabinet as long as you make sure there are no light leaks when you`re flowering plants.

Are you going to try growing a plant without sis knowing about it? If so, I find that next to impossible.

If you're willing to throw down that much money for a set up you might as well go with a HPS. And with and HPS you can grow more plants more efficiently. Much danker denser buds.

HPS Grow Light Systems

and there are so many more if you do the research. If you're going to grow with florescent then you might as well just go to Lowe's or something and get it that stuff for cheaper.

closet grows are often serviced well by 1x 400w HPS
but fluro's work too
fluro's will have less heat and are pretty cheap.
but a 400w hps doesn't cost that much either, most of the setup is like plug n play
hps is suitable for veg, and flower. cfl's are mostly suited to veg.
you'll need to paint the inside of the cab white, or line with mylar

Hmm, So 1 400W HPS like Sun System 2 - 900517, 900517, Sun System 900517 400 Watt - HPS Enclosed Ballast System -eLIGHTS would be better than a florescent blub setup, ex the one I posted up earlier?

I figured the setup doesnt matter as long as you have the right spectrum of light...

Remember, those enclosed systems get very hot.

the quality of the light decreases with distance from the bulb
useful light from cfl's only travels a few inches (quite a few inches)
hps travels much further
this is why you get better buds, especially below the top
it's also why many growers use different techniques to grow
the more budsites that have easy access to useful light the better your yield will be without increasing running costs
so you can top the plant, or train it to stop it growing straight up and just growing one large bud on top.

some considerations here are
size of cab, quality of fan/exhaust, cooltube, and 250w hps option.
depends how safe you want, and how many $'s you want to spend

Just saying. I had a 250w enclosed system and it was as hot as the 400w system that I use now.

Sun System 2 - 900517, 900517, Sun System 900517 400 Watt - HPS Enclosed Ballast System -eLIGHTS

Is this all I basically need for the HPS setup?

BTW Heating shouldnt be an issue as this is going to be in a walk in closet no?

you'll also need a fan to remove smell, and heat
hps are hot, so heat is always an issue

I used the 250 watt enclosed system in a 2x3 room i built inside a walkin closet. I just vented out to the walk in part of the closet.

Passive, if you can call it venting. I drilled a 4 inch hole in my closet floor down to my crawl space, bought a 5 inch brushless fan from radio shack and placed it over the hole. I did the same to the ceiling of my grow room and for a 1 plant set up I was good to go for temps.
